Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)
Oh Lord, Jebus who art in R'lyeh, please forgive me for all the money I've been giving to Disney lately...
...especially when they keep releasing new editions that throw out old features left and right while only adding one or two new ones.
Please accept, as penance, my purchasing of these other fine volumes...
...and please make sure that Mr. Stallone gets the extra $18 that I spent on the Rocky set, since I couldn't make up my goddamned mind yesterday when it was on sale for $22.
Please also forgive my excessive use of emoticons.
Cthulhu fhtagn, amen.

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)
And that completes my obsessive Blu-ray collection of all ten (!) movies in this franchise that didn't really need more than three movies:
Alien (1979)
Aliens (1986)
Predator (1987)
Predator 2 (1990)
Alien 3 (1992)
Alien Resurrection (1997)
Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
Predators (2010)
Prometheus (2012)
Haven't even seen Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem or Predators. Looking forward to being disappointed.

In Anticipation of my installment 1080P Projector and 100 inch screen I went a little crazy:
Catching fire
Captain Phillips
Dark Knight Rises
Gravity
Goonies
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Man Of Steel

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)
I'm trying to fight my bias against Robert Rodriguez, telling myself he was only the producer. The trailer looks nice, but the whole thing seems like such a fanboy remake of the first movie. But the cast is terrific and I know that Nimrod Antal is a very good director, so I'm sure I'll get at least something out of it. I'm just not expecting very many surprises.
I vaguely remember watching AVP years ago and thinking, "This isn't bad at all. What the hell is everyone's problem?" Of course, I wasn't judging it by the same standard as Alien or Aliens. It's a romp, no different than Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man or Freddy vs. Jason. I don't judge those the same way I judge Frankenstein or A Nightmare on Elm Street. By those standards, I thought AVP was fine, certainly not the unwatchable disaster that Paul Anderson's detractors would have had me believe.
But then I actually sort of enjoyed Terminator Salvation and A Good Day to Die Hard, so what the hell do I know? (I fucking hated Terminator 3, though, and I find everything directed by Michael Bay to be completely detestable, so I do have some standards.)
Anyway, one more recent addition...
Now if only Criterion can get their hands on Topkapi, I'll be in heist movie heaven.
