Synopsis
"This very effective thriller features a chilling performance by Rutger Hauer as the emotionless killing machine." – TV Guide's Movie Guide
Sylvester Stallone and Rutger Hauer star in this riveting story of suspense and intrigue that starts in London, continues in Paris and reaches its chilling conclusion on the streets of New York.
When Europe's most feared terrorist (Hauer – The Hitcher) explosively announces his presence in Manhattan, two elite undercover cops (Stallone and Billy Dee Williams) are assigned to stop him before he strikes again. But the ruthless terrorist has other plans for the city - and the detectives.
This edge-of-your-seat thriller, directed by Bruce Malmuth (Hard to Kill), also stars Lindsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman), Persis Khambatta (Star Trek: The Motion Picture), Nigel Davenport (The Island of Dr. Moreau) and Joe Spinell (Maniac).
And two songs previously omitted will now be restored.

That's it? So paltry Shout/Scream, I know you can do better.

"Nighthawks" is an absolutely terrific movie from a time when Theatrical "Cop Movies" were rare (you'd get maybe one a year, like "48 Hours"). This was my discovery of Rutger Hauer (as the villain, "Wulfgar!"), and he stole the film much like Alan Rickman did in "Die Hard". I was surprised that director Bruce Malmuth didn't "go anywhere" afterward (he directed "The Man Who Wasn't There" with Steve Guttenberg).
"Nighthawks" has always been a problem for me on home video because my favorite scene, -Stallone's first encounter with Wulfgar in a disco, -has been ruined by "replacement music" that doesn't quite match the editing. It sounds like they might have fixed that, which would make this an automatic "buy" for me.

There is a rotating deal-of-the-day, though, and you get free shipping if you buy two titles.
I picked up Gravy and Final Exam for $14.98 shipped. That same order would run me $30.72 at Amazon, even with Prime.

Yeah, those deals aren't bad by Scream Factory standards, especially if you get two titles for free shipping. I got Tales From the Crypt and Final Exam for $26.99 which is about 50% off MSRP. SF titles rarely get that low on Amazon.

Pretty typical of their Collector's Edition covers. You can just flip the reversible cover to the Theatrical poster side.

But yeah, on this one I wouldn't be too worried aobut not getting the slip cover in addition to the reversible inner cover.
Hopefully the extras and transfers make this worth upgrading from my combo of the MGM (Fox?) BD and Divamax DVD.

The oddest thing I how many Manhunter releases have ben called the Theatrical version when they really are not.

I found Blood and Lace a dated horror movie but F Troop's fans will likely want to watch it for one of Melody Patterson's only starring roles. I would be hard-pressed to give it a blind buy recommendation.

The Return of Count Yorga is $13.99 today. So far none of the titles have been must haves for me other than Demon Knight which I passed on. Oh well still eight days.

Despite being a sequel, The Return of Count Yorga works quite well on its own if you haven't seen the original Count Yorga, Vampire. Twilight Time got that movie...Scream Factory did a really great job with the Count.

I have the Manhunter Divimax Restored Director's Cut on DVD that has a Michael Mann commentary. I'm assuming this is the best current version even though it's out of print.
I'm going to wait to see the specs on the new Manhunter BD, but if Mann is involved, hopefully he gets that Restored Director's Cut an HD upgrade.
