Exact same situation here. It's going took really good when that patch of sticker glue starts collecting dirt and fucking up my white cover.

I use Goo Gone on the ones that don't start peeling off right away. You can get it at Wal Mart for a couple bucks.

Re: I'm SICK & TIRED of all these DAMN Stickers on my BD Slipcovers!

My IB was covered in about 5 stickers, but they all came off fine. A little of that shiny silver came off, but it kinda gives the art a weathered look, so I don't really mind.

For the toughones, I use rubbing alcohol. But you gotta be careful what you use it on. I've stripped the color off a slipcover before and rendered it useless. Not that it isn't already useless, you get my point.

Basterds was the first slip I've really messed up. Some of the shiny silver came off. Maybe I'll get a new one.

Argh! Just ruined my Basterds slipcover. I knew those stickers were gonna be trouble. Will probably return it tomorrow and try pulling the stickers off in the store to make sure I get a clean cover. So annoying!

I pulled a little bit of the silver finish off of the bottom-right corner when I removed the $5 coupon sticky, but it's not too bad. Now I'm scared to take the rest of them off.

I was shocked when I noticed that the digital copy sticker was pulling off the silver -- that's the first time this has happened. I was thinking about exchanging it for a new one, but it sounds like all of them will be the same way. Why go through all the expense to create such a lovely slipcover and then slap stickers all over it that ruin them?

Apparently marketing has more clout than the graphic designers at Universal.

If you're careful, it is possible to get them off with no damage. I returned my first one and tried again. I used a hairdryer to first heat up the stickers and tweezers to get them off. It took about 10 minutes of nerd surgery.

Re: I'm SICK & TIRED of all these DAMN Stickers on my BD Slipcovers!

I generally leave the factory sticker on as well, while removing the price stickers... However on tv type sets where you have a box within a outter box type case, I will leave the shrink wrap on the outer covering, carefully cutting around the opening with an exacto knife so I can get the actual product out. When reselling this allows me to advertise these as almost new, these cardboard boxes can get damaged very easily

Came in handy when upgrading my matrix hd set to blu... they originally just asked for the slip of paper that was stuck to the back of the box, which was still there, having never removed the shrink wrap from it

Re: I'm SICK & TIRED of all these DAMN Stickers on my BD Slipcovers!

It's not slipcovers, but I'm going through a bunch of movies now and some of the single disc cases have the recycle graphic cut out on the side where the front is. I've run into a few of the black square security stickers that are put on that side, so part of it is stuck to the inside of the case but then it's also stuck to the paper of the cover through that cutout.

If I ever need to swap out the case, I'll have to be really careful not to rip the paper cover when swapping it.

Re: I'm SICK & TIRED of all these DAMN Stickers on my BD Slipcovers!

Both of my IB covers were 'damaged' upon removing the stickers - not too worried about these as the missing silver bits actually fit in with it. On the other hand, I spent about 5 minutes checking the Terminator Salvation BLU slipcovers when buying that one - so many had flakes ripped off (revealing a 'shiny spot') - it seemed to have to do with the way BB had them stored. People must've thought I was crazy - picking up one copy after the other and staring at it - I'm sure they were thinking "Uh.. that's the same movie."

I'm hating those also - nearly every one has had the black security square inside. Most aren't stuck to the cover art fortunately, but when you get a title that's been squeezed onto a shelf without enough room, it does get stuck and can be a nightmare trying to remove without ripping the cover.

I've just started to throw away the slipcovers, which is something that I almost never did with SD-DVDs.

Of the newer movies I've purchased (Basterds included) I just peel a small corner first and then very, very slowly peel the stickers off. Haven't had any residue problems in a while.

Re: I'm SICK & TIRED of all these DAMN Stickers on my BD Slipcovers!

its not just some slipsleeve stickers, the whole "art" of unboxing is becoming
more and more of a pain in the ass
white security stickers that can damage the artwork, black security strips,
shrinkwrap that sticks to the spine.....there are many obstacles an anal
collector has to beat, before a movie can go on the shelf in perfect condition

LOL! This is sad but true. People don't understand why I say that I hate opening BDs, DVDs and CDs and this is the exact reason. You can spend 5-10 minutes just getting all of the crap of the outside and inside of the case. I don't like having to perform nerdgery to get a sticker off of a case.

unfortunately it is really taking that long to get everything off
do people in the states really steal so much stuff, that there
is a need for that number of security devices!?

Don't forget folding/creasing the edges of the slipcover to straighten it out, and sometimes replacing the blu-ray case itself. I notice Universals slipcovers are a little looser which I don't care for...the case can basically slip right out.

Goo Gone and rubbing the area with my thumb and/or an old t-shirt is my strategy for the problem stickers.

Boom! Exactly, patience works like a charm. The second I use a hair dryer and tweezers, shoot me, it's just a piece of cardboard with artwork in the end.

I don't remember my sticker on my Basterds DVD/Blu-Ray leaving residue from Target, I honestly don't remember if Target puts stickers on their BD slipcovers anyways.

A 4-page thread dedicated to the presence of stickers on exterior product packaging?

You guys know this has been the norm for going on 100 years, right?

Well, speaking of which, I had a hard time getting the sticker off of the slip cover for the new French Connection release...
