I picked up Monster Squad and MBV for $12.99 @ BB, along with Cujo for $9.99. Cujo and MS looked great. Looking forward to throwing in MBV.

I guess Monster Squad went OOP. I was able to buy a new blu ray copy off of half.com for 15 bucks, which is more than I usually buy for a catalog title, but the 3rd party prices are rising. Anyone know why it went OOP and if a future re-release is on the horizon?

It was a Republic title so now Olive has the rights to the film.

Thanks for the info. Im going to assume then that Lionsgate owns the extras on the bluray/dvd release, so anyone who hasn't bought it yet should asap because Olive will probably re-release it barebones.

sooooo...my monster squad blu seems to be suffering from bronzing...anyone else?
EDIT: i might just be paranoid since the whole criterion thing but the disc does look more golden on the bottom not necessarily brownish. if you guys could check your discs i'd appreciate it. disc doesn't play on either of my sony players.

My disc looked fine and played fine, I didn't go through the whole movie though.

Riot...I put my disc in my Sony player, and it worked great. I fast forwarded through the entire film, chose a scene at random, let it play, selected a bonus feature...everything went off without a hitch. My disc also looked great, and all this has done is remind me that this is the perfect month to watch this film again, as it was a great transfer to blu...really nice picture with colors that pop.

Checked all of my early LG blu-rays and all seem to be okay.
I remember hearing about early LG blus becoming unplayable; American Psycho was one I definitely recall some folks having issues with.

Some blu-ray discs I've seen have a sort of goldish tint to them, not unlike the goldish color of some dual layer DVDs. The bronzing in question that renders discs useless will probably appear to be irregular (most likely it will appear as a dark stain spreading from the outer edges of the disc toward the center) and not as a solid color on the entire playing surface.
How did the disc not play on your Sony players? Did it start to play and then glitch, or did the player refuse to play the disc at all? My first BR player was a Sony, and about three years after I bought it it started refusing to recognize certain discs. I would put the disc in the tray, close the tray, and after a couple of seconds it would tell me that the disc was unrecognizable. It started out doing this with only one blu-ray, but it eventually stopped recognizing any blu-ray, through it still played DVDs. Did a bit of online research and discovered that other people were having the same issues with Sony players.

We played our copy of Monster Squad last night and it played just fine. I have several Criterion titles that are bronzing and my copy of Walkabout is the most bronzed and will not play in my blu-ray player at all. It is not even recognized as a disc. However, my laptop with a bd drive loads up the movie just fine. This whole bronzing business sucks and has turned out to be a pain in the ass. I'm compiling my list right now of discs that I need to get replaced but I'll save that for the other thread.

Riot...going to insult your intelligence, but your players might need software upgrades. I would put in a disc that plays and check the settings on your player to see if it says there is an update available.
