Nice. I wasn't impressed with the picture quality of the current disc so I never picked it up either.

Hmmm, 10/27? Isn't that around the time Stargate: Universe premiers? Good timing.

Oh FFS already? Let's see if this one has a subtitle issue like the initial Blu-ray.

Re: Stargate 15th Anniversary BD - 10/27!

I bought the original one long before it was 10.00 (happily paid full price when it first came out cause i loved the movie) I will probably trade that in shortly before the new disc is released. to bad we are not also getting a BD of the extended cut of the Stargate children of a lesser god being released on dvd.

I can't remember if I have the previous version, but if I do, I most likely got it for free. I will gladly do an upgrade.

Undecided on this one... I had a bad experience with The Arrival... a case of a sci-fi movie not having aged well...at all.(but it was ahead of the curve on global warming! lol) But I'm a Kurt Russell fan and I remember this being pretty enjoyable... I guess i'll wait for the reviews (and sales).

Re: Stargate 15th Anniversary BD - 10/27!

I love how they are so nonshalantly watching the pyramid getting hit on the front cover.

Picture:
Just as the differences between the previously remastered and anamorphically enhanced (finally!) 2.35:1 Ultimate Edition DVD reviewed in Issue 71, and the non-anamorphic versions previous to that are astounding, so are the differences compared to this Blu-ray Disc™. Starting with the color scheme, fidelity is even more accurately balanced and natural, while the previous versions appeared oversaturated with dark browns and orange hues. The color palette is wonderfully saturated with rich and virant hues. Lighting effects and contast provide an impressive cinematic visual experience. Shadow delineation reveals excellent depth. Resolution is outstanding. Details are much more accurately rendered here, without the soft appearance of some scenes on the DVD. Facial features and object textures are clearly defined. Edge enhancement was extremely annoying on the previous versions but is non-existent here, providing a pristine image with superb dimensionality. To date, this spectacular 15th Anniversary Edition is the best that "Stargate" has looked for home theatre presentation, though, previous editions had earned higher scores at the time of their reviews. (Gary Reber/Suzanne Hodges)

Sound:
The audio on the previous Ultimate Edition DVD was a new soundtrack-remastering effort, offering an enhanced sense of dimension and atmosphere. The new audio also featured a back surround channel via Surround EX encoding for Dolby® Digital, and DTS-ES®. As with this lossless DTS-HD Master Audio™ 7.1-channel soundtrack, the fidelity of the original recording is somewhat dated. Fidelity, however, is greatly enhanced as well as dimension. The sense of spatial engagement throughout is downright impressive, with lots of split surround engagement, and as well, a phantom imaged back surround serving to enhance the perception of expansion behind the listener, as well as to serve effectively with acutely directional sounds. The extra side channels are often aggressively engaged and provide a dramatic sense of holosonic® envelopment. The holosonic presence is seamless and very compelling throughout. The music score is nicely recorded and presented over a wide and deep soundfield that wraps around the side channels and into the back. There’s also considerable dynamic range engagement, and of course, deep bass energy that can be very prodigious and system-threatening when energized in the .1 LFE channel, extending to below 25 Hz. The DTS-HD Master Audio audio soundtrack is impressive in the depth of the low-end response, as well as the soundstage presence, with a wonderful sense of depth and immersion, dramatically enhanced with the 7.1-channel encoding. (Gary Reber/Perry Sun)

I just watched it again the other night and IMO it still is enjoyable{that is if you don't compare it to the tv series}.

$17.49 at Best Buy just now. I probably would have bought it if I didn't have the 2-disk DVD.

Re: Stargate 15th Anniversary BD - 10/27!

Saw that it was $17.50 on their site so i printed the online page just in case it rings up differnt in store.

here is a review in case anyone wants some info. I dont trust IGN a whole lot but i havent see another review yet.

http://bluray.ign.com/articles/103/1038399p1.html

Edit: It rang up $17.49 in store. It also has a pretty shiny slipcover as well as disc art. Glad to not see another grey disc.
