Most and Least Impressive HD Release You've Seen?
In terms of video and audio quality, what is the most and least impressive HD you've watched? Here is mine:
Most Impressive - Apocalypto
Like him or not, Mel Gibson can make one damn amazing looking film. The movie was already stunning in SD, and mind blowing in HD. This movie is eye candy with so much detail to costumes and art that you have to watch it many times to catch everything. Bloody good fun.
Least Impressive - Diehard Collection
I expected Diehard to look amazing in HD, explosions leap off the screen, but I wasn't blown away for some reason. Also, it look more grainy than HD to me. I didn't enjoy the experience over SD so it was not worth the upgrade for me.

Best:
- King Kong (2005) is pretty damn impressive in every way, lack of extras aside.
Worst:
- Driven to Kill. I had to review it recently and it looks like some serious shit.

Best:
- King Kong - I definitely agree with KillerCannibal, this looks amazing.
- Wall*E - almost doesn't count
Worst:
- I think Bram Stoker's Dracula looks terrible, but it was supervised by Zoetrope so maybe that was their intention. I just like to be able to SEE what's going on when I watch a movie. And yes, it's a dark movie, but so are a lot of others that don't have this issue.
- Dog Soldiers - a source material thing

Titles that are on Blu-ray but aren't actually in HD:
Max Fleischer's Gulliver's Travels
Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy
Cannibal Taboo
Not really recognizable as HD:
Bad Boy Bubby
Dog Soldiers
The Secret
Belly
The Thirteenth Floor

No Country for Old Men probably still ranks #1 on my list. The worst I've seen was the HD DVD of The Bone Collector. Very drab looking and sub par audio.

Best!!
Deja VU - Awesome Picture Quality
Bourne Identity - Almost a realistic look. looks more like 120hz on 60hz TV
Worst!!
Sum of All Fears - I dunnot what happened. Lots of gray pixels and shades. Maybe its my player or something so I haven't rule that out yet. But even then was not worth the upgrade... But oh well I'm a BD freak
Ocean's Twelve - Seriously Fd Up stuff. Too much grain and washed out picture especially in the beginning. Look at when benedict visists Julia in the beggining...I thought I was watching a VHS!!!

Best:
Sleeping Beauty – an absolutely incredible upgrade. The movie looks brand new.
Ratatouille – (not to stick to only animated features) but this one pops with crispness and the colors are amazing.
The James Bond Collection – now, this is what I want from an HD upgrade of older movies! Older movies like Dr. No look like they were shot yesterday and the sound is completely immersive.
Wost:
DieHard Collection – I completely agree. These are terrible in HD. They are in dire need of color correction and are grainy as hell. Sound leaves a lot to be desired too.

To me the most impressive HD image I've seen is the 1:85 Imax footage from Dark Knight - even though the regular 2:35 footage is in HD and looks as good as any bluray, the Imax stuff looks SO good, that when it switches to the non-imax stuff it's almost like it's going to standard definition.
2nd place goes to 2001 - since it was shot on 70mm film a good transfer's going to make it look better than most other films that are shot on 35mm.
The best looking OLD movie has to be the UK bluray of Black Narcissus - some of the shots got a "holy shit" out of me.
Least? So far, I've been able to hold off from getting HD stuff that's received low marks.

I'm also a big fan of animated features on Blu Ray. Since I have a 2 year old, I have bought many animated movies for both of us to enjoy. Some of my favorites are:
Cars
A Bug's Life
Kung Fu Panda
Meet the Robinsons
Ice Age
Ice Age 2
Ratataouille
Since these films were made digitally, it's only you have to expect them have flawless transfers and amazing clarity. I often use these movies to demo my HT and everyone that I demo'd to is completely amazed.

I think HP Order of the Phoenix is an incredible HD Experience.
Worst I try to stay away from but I would have to say it is Die Hard. Was not too impressed with that and did not buy it.

The best HD transfer hands-down is Baraka. This is common knowledge.

How about 28 Days Later for least impressive? I know it's a source issue and was intentionally shot that way, but by Blu-Ray standards it's awful.

For least impressive, I think my pick has to be The French Connection. It's not as if they were just being cheap and using a crappy master with baked-in DNR and EE like Gangs of New York.
Right there in the special features, you get to see just how nice it could have looked.

As much as I hate to admit it, being a such a big BC fan, but the My Name is Bruce BD looked terrible. Which doesn't say much for HDV as a viable format to shoot on.
I expect most new movies to look great, so, I'll throw in The Wild Bunch. Especially when you compare it to the DVD.

I cant believe people are putting the Die Hard Trilogy on the worst list here. It is heads and tales better than any of these has ever looked. I wouldnt go as far as to put it best though.
Best King Kong (newer) Dr No (older)
Worst Gangs of NY
