Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
Why is "Bones" getting the shaft on all these covers? I would think he would be pictured before Uhura ever would. Id rather have just the white starship cover over any other one as of now. Cant wait to see it again on BD.

There's no such thing as "too geeky" when it comes to Star Trek.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
Heh. There's nothing like a die-cast model it cost them less than $1 to make (oh, don't forget it comes with a "certificate of authenticity") so they can market a "Limited Edition" set for ~$100.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
That little metal Enterprise looks cute but hardly worth what they're asking for it. Pass.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
I could see them selling a decent amount of those if they were $40, but at $90 they're just going to collect dust.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
Yeah, I'd be more inclined to bite at $40. As it stands, I'd rather get that toy Enterprise that was released when the movie came out.

Nice set but just the movie for me. Can't justify the extra $ on this one.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
Congratulations on 19 years! I think a great sci-fi flick would make a perfect romantic wedding anniversary gift! Sounds good to me, but, what do I know? I am a single guy who has never been married. I might not be the best judge of what is romantic!

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
I saw over at Blu-Ray.com that the coverart was revized.
http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/star-trek12.html So they took a teaser poster of Kirk and they cut it up into the title? Meh. The earlier cover was fuglier but I wouldn't call this an improvement. It's more of a latteral move.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
I wonder if they'll sell out of the limited one. It had a sales rank of #44 when I looked yesterday on amazon and they claim only 5,000 copies will be made.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
Why is it just Kirk's face behind 'Star Trek'? The cutout in the theater when I saw it had all of the cast with one behind each of the 8 letters and it looked really cool.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
What you describe sounds way better, mcfly. I'm guessing they chose one character pic to accomodate that asanine "3-disc digital copy special edition" text. Can't they put that crap on a sticker on top of the shrinkwrap?

Apparently this is the coverart and the other artwork we saw is the slipcover.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
What the fuck are they doing with the cover art for this release? I would rather have the older version than the revised version. Either way, you would think that for one of the best releases of the year, they could come up with something better than this crap! Thankfully it's the movie that matters.

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
Yeah what the hell? I mean for one of the best movies of this year it sure did have some of the crappiest posters and now dvd/blu-ray art I've seen in a while. I'll still buy it regardless but they couldn't have done better?

Re: Star Trek: Nov 17
the revised cover art is actually one of the theatrical one sheets, I was lucky enough to get my one sheet that looks exactly like that(minus the 3 disc banner of course) signed by Chris Pine durring the run of His play Farragut North at the geffen theatre back in june.
they had two variations of the kirk character one sheet, the one that is being used for the video release now, and then also onewith just the black and white pic of kirk with out star trek on top. and then there was the san diego comic con character one sheet as well. personally ilike the choice to go with the kirk in the starfleet logo design
