As far as home theaters go, I'd say so. 37"-42" is small, I think I'd start "large" around 58" or 60", and everything in between is mid-size. I'd put front projection rigs in a different class altogether.

Exactly.

There's really nothing between the largest HDTVs and projector screens. Is anyone watching on a 76" screen? Not really.

I have 85" front projection in my basement...

I wanted to go bigger, but the room doesn't allow it really.

Yep I am currently watching on a 74" image from a front projection which fits perfectly between my two bookshelves. (At least until I get of my ass and get a proper 2.35:1 screen setup which will be much bigger.

DVD Beaver comparison of Repulsion. That Koch disc might have the worst transfer of any film ever released on DVD, not to mention one of the worst covers!

And blu-ray.com's review of "Repulsion" is now up, too, but I still can't post links.

BD screenshots of Repulsion look fantastic! Can't wait until the end of the month.

And sure to draw criticism, the October BD titles list prices ($49.95) are now $10 more than the SD titles.

I wonder what's holding them back from releasing Fellini titles on Blu?

I emailed the Criterion guy (can't remember his name, but he's the one that gets interviewed for mag articles, etc) and asked if they had any plans to release 8 1/2 or Amarcord, or any other Fellini titles, on Blu, and he reponded that there were no plans at this time to release them on Blu (this was about 2 months ago).

It seems like they're releasing a couple really specific film-geek-type titles, but I would think that some of the bigger sellers for them would be the films, like Fellini's, that have a wider and more well-known appeal. Yknow?

Turns out it was just a listing error on the website that has now been corrected. The MSRP for the October titles is $39.95.

Have you heard any updates on Ran?

Any danger of similar shenanigans with Kagemusha?

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Has anyone's order for Repulsion through Amazon gone to "shipping soon" status? I just ordered a few minutes ago. Most of their pre-orders ship on Monday. Mine still gives me the option to cancel. Usually, if the status doesn't go to "shipping soon" after several minutes, there's a good chance the title won't ship out that day.

Just got the 'Your Amazon.com order has shipped' e-mail a few minutes ago (FWIW I'm an Amazon Prime member).

Pro-B's Kagemusha review from Blu-ray.com. Now I can finally sell my SD without worry of any last-minute issues!

is B&N gonna have the 'Repulsion' disc in store, with the discounted 50% price - the reason I ask, because it's not available online.

It should be. Check the B&N sale thread. It's hard to find, but it's on there.

Just do a search for the "Repulsion" blu-ray under 'All Products' and you'll find it. For some reason, doing the search for it using 'DVD - Title' sub-search only yields the older disc.

Here ya go... Repulsion.

Being a non-member, I was able to pre-order it with a final shipped price of $18.29.

Too excited for Repulsion on Blu-Ray tomorrow

Going to stop by my local B&N around 11am to hopefully get a copy for 50% off.
