Where has he confirmed that there is more coming? I'd imagine, hopefully, that it was Waters' choice regarding the music.

I believe Kino Lorber owns the rights to Wild at Heart (they released it on DVD) and they will have to wait three years from the Twilight Time release before they get the Blu Ray rights.

I'm sure the music changes were up to him, as he supervised the transfer and it's a "Director Approved" edition.

JW has not definitively confirmed more Criterions, but he has said more Blu-ray is coming. He's definitely not said no in a couple of interviews, and has hinted that there's more when asked by fans at personal appearances. Sorry, I said "saying,' I should have said "strongly hinted."

From an interview back in February for The Quietus:

"Is there a possibility of any more Criterions coming out?

Well, if there is, I'm not really allowed to talk about it. You ask if there's a possibility - well, the answer to that would always be yes. Because... anything's possible (laughs) So, I will say "yes" is the answer to that. With no other comment."

Wild at Heart is owned by MGM, acquired as part of its purchase of The Samuel Goldwyn Company in 1997. MGM released the movie on DVD in 2005.

Around or before 2014, MGM licensed the movie's DVD rights to Kino and the Blu-ray rights to Twilight Time. The TT Blu-ray was released in April 2014 and the Kino DVD reissue in April 2015.

It's possible that MGM could license the Blu-ray rights to Kino after Twilight Time's exclusivity expires (that's exactly what happened with the Thunderbirds Are Go/Thunderbird 6 double feature), but Kino doesn't own the property and will not automatically get anything without a new agreement. It's also possible that Criterion could lobby for it as part of their working relationship with Lynch. Or it may just sit stagnant if nobody is convinced that there's much more demand for it.

If the TT agreement was for three years, that would mean it expired a few months ago in April of this year. I haven't heard anyone announce a reissue yet.

Woody Allen doesn't allow special features, so there wouldn't be much of a reason for Criterion to release it. If you're region free, just get the Arrow. Otherwise the MGM is fine.

Not sure if it's a price mistake or not but David Lynch: The Art Life is $16.99 on Amazon currently. I threw in a pre-order just to be safe.

It'll be $14.99 during future B&N sales and the Criterion Flash sale. List on that one is only $29.95.

Ah, thanks. I didn't realize this was one of their lower priced titles.

I can't justify $300+ on a BD set

It's retailing for $400 on the Criterion site, so as it's been said before with other titles, this should be $200 during the next Flash Sale they have.

That's an amazing set, though I don't see a spine#?

I wonder if this means they can re-issue Tokyo Olympiad by itself? That's one on my wishlist.

It will be interesting, if frustrating, to watch the quality of the films go from 35mm clarity down to SD video in the '70s and '80s before rebounding to HD video in later years.

Like watching Star Trek. Classic stuff on film, TNG era on tape.

Well, not quite, considering they were both shot on film.

The Piano Teacher is compelling and thematic, but also really dark, disturbing, and ultimately tough to watch.

Yeah, did Milo somehow miss the fact that CBS Films reconstructed and restored the entirety of Star Trek: TNG in high definition?

DS9 and Voyager have not been restored yet because CBS and Paramount don't want to spend the money on less popular properties (and allegedly the TNG Blu-rays didn't sell as well as hoped), but they were also shot on film and could be restored at some point.
