Every mod is different. In some sub-forums they close threads at around 800.

It's been asked, but I don't think they've gotten a definitive answer from IB on whether large threads need to be closed, and when.

Always good to see Braveheart rumblings.

Give me some cover art and maybe I'll warm up to the fact that this might actually get released.

I wait until it's really close to 1,000 or a hair over, but I apparently haven't been paying attention to the post counts much lately.

Last I heard they were re-doing the cover art. Maybe a new tag-line or 'BLANK Edition'.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

Here's some other possible dates via The Digital Bits:

September 15: 'Deep Impact', 'Escape from L.A.', '48 Hours'
September 22: 'Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 2', 'Gladiator: Extended Edition', 'Galaxy Quest'
November 3: 'Forrest Gump', 'It's a Wonderful Life'

I wonder if 9/22 is when we'll also see the other Star Trek movies and the new one.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

We need Gladiator Theatrical Edition. I hate how these studios are releasing special or extended editions on Blu-ray and not theatrical versions. I want Donnie Brasco theatrical, I watched The New World Extended Cut and I really want the theatrical on Blu-ray. Boo on Gladiator.

Sign me up for It's a Wonderful Life. That Ken Burns piece looks interesting too.

While I prefer the Gladiator TC, I recently saw the DC for the first time, and I absolutely think the scene which precedes Maximus' famous "are you not entertained" line should have been left in. It's a short scene, but it does such a nice job of setting up that line and gives it more weight.

I'm pretty much down for all that Paramount stuff except It's A Wonderful Life and Escape From L.A.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

I think the recent Gladiator DVD is labeled as the "Extended Edition," but has seamless branching for both versions...I think there's still a chance the BD could be the same thing.

I think that's a given for both. That day is going to be Sci-Fi goodness for a lot of people.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

In for :

Escape from L.A. (weak as it is, I'll upgrade since the old DVD is non-16x9)
48 Hours (also non-16x9, but a great flick, too)
It's a Wonderful Life (one of my faves)
ST: TOS S2 (S1 looked amazing - gotta keep up)

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

Definitely in on 48 Hrs. (YES!), Escape from L.A. (the horrid CGI will look worse in 1080p, but at least I can ditch my non-16:9 copy!), Gump, and Gladiator. And of course I'll grab Star Trek once it hits. Thinking I'll grab the trilogy Trek set eventually and then get VI separate, hopefully.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

Definitely looking forward to Season 2 of ST:TOS...hopefully that means the final season will be out in December!
I'll also be grabbing the "Next Generation" four film set and the new ST movie, as well as Forrest Gump (hopefully with all bonus features carried over)....

I would be surprised if Gladiator doesn't have the original cut. It's Ridley Scott's preferred version, after all.

I'm looking forward to Forrest Gump and It's a Wonderful Life.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

I read somewhere else the possible dates for Star Trek TOS Season 3 (or did I read it here somewhere) and the rest of the Star Trek films was end of October-ish.
