Don't you need a certain TV to watch the 3-D version that Paramount is working on for next year? I won't be upgrading my television for QUITE a while so I wouldn't be able to take advantage of it anyway. As crappy as the red/blue version was, at least I was SOMETHING.

I've spent way too much money on this franchise and I'm not spending anymore until Paramount gets their act together.
Marty Sadoff (the film's 3D supervisor) told me that the eventual BD would include the red/blue version, along with newly-produced 3D versions that will work only on DLP/LCD sets that are equipped for 3D viewing.

My library usually has a decent selection as well.

They didn't have the F13 3-D DVD, so I tried to have them transfer it from another library. But they told me it was too new and to try back in 7 or 8 months.

It's a decent system for fairly mainstream films, but hard to get movies are just that... hard to get. I tried to get the Phantasm II VHS (I've STILL never seen it), but only a handful of libraries had it listed and none of the would give it up.

Re: Friday the 13th Part II and III ----> 6/16/09

Got these today on Blu:

Part III is 3D (red/blue). Will give it a spin tonight/tomorrow and post impressions. I have my UK BD so I will compare some scenes and see if any look better. Kinda surprised they stuffed 3D on a BD50 though (along with the normal encode). Wonder if the US encode was dumbed down a bit to fit the 3D version on. I also have my Part III DVD so I will compare the 3D between the DVD and BD. Busy night for me.

Still not sure if I want to get these or not. I spent $60 on the dvd boxet when it first came out. I'm not sure I'm willing to upgrade just yet. At least not at $20 a pop.

All of these have new special features, deleted scenes etc. Part III on BD has tons of exclusive stuff not on the DVD.

Looking forward to getting these soon. I think I'll collect them up til Jason Lives. The series sorta went downhill after that in my opinion.

So how's the quality of the two flicks? Do they look better than the UK counterparts?

From what I can tell Identical. I viewed a few problem scenes from Part III on both the UK and US BD as they each had the same issue (water spots, scratches).

Yeah! I'd say the series went downhill after part 7! Manhattan, Hell and X were pretty terrible movies. Though I still enjoy watching them.

When I get home from work I will.

They are identical to the ones found in the DVD and are simple Red/Blue ones.

I can't believe I'm about to triple-dip on films that aren't even particularly good. Oh well. If you're going to have a guilty pleasure, you might as well enjoy it in HD.

Re: Friday the 13th Part II and III ----> 6/16/09

FYI -

7 and 8 have been announced for DVD on September 15th. You would think 4, 5 and 6 would come out this day as well on Blu-ray, right (judging by the previous waves)? Wrong. No more F13s are listed for Blu-ray by Paramount this year. Not sure if that's an error or they are waiting to see sales numbers of 2 or 3.
