I'm definitely tempted to pull the trigger on this one. I haven't read any reviews. Does it contain any new bonus features over the SD versions? I own all the SD releases except 4.5 which I was planning to get it.

It is a real pain trying to get the Cylon Figure out of the top.

I couldn't resist the set at $164 from Deep Discount. I got the free shipping, though, so I'll probably actually receive it in October.

It'll be worth it. The show is beyond brilliant, I have never really considered myself a Sci-fi fan, but this show is something that pulled me in. I absolutley love it.

I just wish that my funds would have come together in time to buy it, i've only been trying to sell my stuff for weeks now haha.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Complete Series Blu-ray Collection -- July 28th

I am very tempted to buy this set. I have never watched an episode, but everyone talks so highly of this series. The only thing that stops me from buying it is that people also spoke highly of Firefly and I wasn't that crazy about it or Serenity. Would you fans of the show say it is better than Fiirefly?

I don't think it's fair to compare the shows, they are both so completely different & Firefly didn't last long enough to say it's better or worse.

Battlestar is a LOT more heavy & dark. It brings a lot of contemporary, social, & political themes into the show, whereas Firefly is always lighthearted adventure. Also where Firefly is relatively self contained, Battlestar is one story constantly moving foward.

Unless one hates sci-fi or anything slightly dark, I can't imagine anyone not being riveted by Battlestar once they give it a chance.

And kstublen, the cylon on top of the box just pops right out.

I had a helluva time getting it out, at least the first time. It was positioned in a way that made it impossible to just lift the plastic container straight up and out of the box. I had to angle it and then try and maneuver the Cylon figure out of its position. The problem seems to be that the figure is longer than the open space in the box; in other words, at least some part of the figure is covered by top of the box.

Deep Discount just dropped the price to match Amazon at 201.69. The current cost with the 25% off is 151.27.

It'll be interesting to see how soon DD can fulfill these orders given the great demand.

Mine is listed as a backorder, which is fine with me. Too much stuff to watch as it is.

At $150... I'll bite (and I can wait).

This is my most expense blind buy ever... but I think it will be worth it.

I hope not. Boy, that's a lot of money on a blind buy, and when I've already dropped $175 on this DD sale before ordering this one, it makes me wonder if I really do have a problem.

Don't forget Bing for another $6 in savings.

First and only DD purchase for me during this sale. Nothing else seemed worth it from my wish list. Nearly everything would have only been a couple bucks cheaper than Amazon with the 25% off. Battlestar on the other hand, definitely worth ordering at that price.

I've only seen the two hour movie and season one. Never got around to the rest. I'm looking forward to diving in when it arrives... in 2010.

Looks like Bing is worth $9.92 on this, making it $141.35

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Complete Series Blu-ray Collection -- July 28th

I'm not sure what has happened to me. This is perhaps my favorite show of all time. I'm becoming more and more pro blu-ray each day. I'm an obsessive shopper. I'm a special features completists and see that this set has several things exclusive to it. I have unopened SD sets of seasons 4 and 4.5 that I can return for ~$60 cash/credit, making my net cost to upgrade only $80.

And yet I'm barely tempted. Mostly because I'm convinced this will be $100 pr less within a year.

I usually don't comment when people say things like this but I personally doubt it will be even lower so soon. If you'd rather wait, that's fine, but without question this is still an excellent deal for such a great series on Blu-ray. Total cost should around $151 and some change (not counting the Bing cashback - so the total cost including that should be around $142). That means it's essentially $35 a season. And that's not counting 2.0, 2.5, 4.0, 4.5 as individual seasons/sets. It's counting them as they should be: as seasons. Considering what the DVD editions still retail for and that the Complete Series DVD set cost is only $30 less I personally don't expect a huge drop in sale price within a year on the big Blu-ray release. It's already almost 60% off MSRP. $35 a season works for me for one of my favorite series on Blu-ray (and I'd already gotten rid of my DVD sets and Season 1 HD DVD in anticipation of it's release).

Anyone willing to explain this "Bing" thing? I may order this even though I already have most of the regular DVD sets and haven't even watched a second of this show.

Bing is Microsoft's search engine that has a cashback program. Go in and sign up and route thru them to DD and get cashback.

This would be a great deal from DD if it wasn't for the $29.95 shipping. I really hate the shipping cost being based on item price. Especially since they don't take the discount into consideration.

I'll just hope that Trevor is right, and the price drops quickly.

Canada gets raped on shipping at DD. What sucks is that they used to have flat rate $5.95 shipping to Canada back in the DDD days.

I love the show...wasn't sure on the price, but at $151, and the fact that it'll arrive down the road...is nice. I'm in.
