Re: Last HD DVD/BD you watched?

The FBI warning only on Get Smart, as the disc wouldn't load past that on my player.

Dammit! Now you won't have anything to watch. See I told you, you need to have some more on hand in case something like this happens. Let that be a lesson to you

I like Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway but not very much together. I think the age difference was too much for me to take. Don Adams and Barbara Feldon had good chemistry and made a more believable couple.

Re: Last HD DVD/BD you watched?

Been a while since I've come around these parts, but imported the UK version of the Alien Quadrilogy and wow...

Watched the first Alien and was astounded at how good it looked. I had gotten the 9-disc DVD set a while back and remembered being disappointed in the transfers. So it was with a bit of caution that I had on these.

This kind of transfer is what Blu-ray is about. Took a 33-year-old movie and made it look like I was watching a movie released yesterday.

Can't wait to watch the others. Took a sneak peek at the first 15-minutes or so of Aliens and it also surpassed my expectations. The DVD set's transfer was extremely grainy. But the Blu-ray looks magnificent. I don't necessarily think grain is a bad thing, depending on the movie. And a lot of times the DNR is too much. But the detail still seems to shine through.

Anyway, obviously it made enough of impression on me to make me want to come back here and post about it.

Any Alien fan who doesn't own them on Blu-Ray is doing themselves a disservice.

I saw it in the theater, and agree. It was fun, but just made me want to watch the original or Moonlighting or anything else with better lead chemistry.

Welcome back stranger!

Alien is one of my top 5 films, yet I've been waiting to buy the BDs. But the combination of your advice and Best Buy's $10 with $10 moviecash sale is going to change that, probably tonight.

Contraband Not bad, nothing terribly original. Basically his character from Shooter but as a smuggler

Finished up the second part of the Clint Eastwood double pack I picked up at Costco. Kelly's Heroes and Where Eagles Dare.
Have to say that only Stormtroopers shoot worse than Nazis according to these movies.

Re: Last HD DVD/BD you watched?

Watched this weekend..

Midnight in Paris- Liked it a lot. Glad Woody wasn't in it as he seems to always ruin his movies. Just need to see the Artist and that will complete the 2012 oscar nominees.

the Immortals - meh

A Trip to the Moon- Excellent!

The Lady Vanishes - Awesome!

Kiss me Deadly - Great!
