Bergman Island - interesting documentary, but it's apparent that it's cutting down from a much longer tv series running time (3 hours), feels like it's missing alot of other films and theatre works Bergman did in the past. Some of the nature/architecture shots look fantasic in hidef.

The Deep. I found it mildly entertaining... worthy of a rental. I purchased it though from that Hastings sale blind. I might as well sell it.

That's one that I own for sentimental reasons more than anything else. Many of the movies from my teenage years I end up buying not because of the great quality but because I enjoyed them in the theater 35 years ago.

Last watched, just now:
The Wages of Fear. A masterpiece is what my gut is telling me. This film was brilliant on so many levels. The essay included with this release really helped confirm my thoughts and feelings on the film, and I know I am going to have to revisit this one many times over the years. Powerful film-making indeed. I can't believe I got this for only $15 - it has to be one of the best blind buys I've ever made.

Fanny and Alexander (import) - comparing this theatrical cut to the Criterion DVD edition is like night and day, the colours really stand out, in a few scenes the picture looks dimensional - the Christmas tree in the beginning of the film is so close you want to reach in and touch it. In the scenes where the color schemes aren't bathed in red, the clarity is beautiful and stunning - the scene where Emilie rushes out of the house after expressing her desire to leave the Bishop, and turns toward the camera, is powerfully: the cinematography and specifically the final shot elicited a 'wow' from me.
Great Expectations (1946) - I must state upfront that I've never actually seen this movie before, so while I was much more enraptured with the story, the characters, making notes on the hidef transfer was far from my attention. What I did note was that the transfer is extraodinary - there are very (very) minor print flaws, but nothing that marred the overall presentation of the film.

The Quick and the Dead. Awesome movie. I just got it in today from Netflix, and this was my first time viewing it. I'll have to add it to my collection. For those curious the PQ/AQ was great. The grain is there, but I did not find it at all distracting, and the movie looked exactly as I imagine it should. Good color, good contrast, good detail, crisp sound, etc. This is a good Blu-ray presentation.

DisneyNature's Earth. Just like Planet Earth it's a lot of "ooh's" and "ahh's" 'cause it looks pretty. I felt bad for the Polar Bear.

Blade Runner (International cut) a Ridley Scott film experienced/'seen' in hidef? - that's a no brainer.
Akira - I love how in hidef - animation films and specifically color's just have tremendous 'pop' to them.

Battlestar Galactica S1
Good PQ & AQ...and a great beginning to this series. Great acting, good effects...I'm very impressed and charged to see the rest.
Now I'm going to have to buy the BD set when it goes on sale again...if it ever does...

The Devil Wears Prada. Decent PQ/AQ. Really enjoyed Meryl Streep's performance. Hathaway was meh. Movie was predictable, but still entertaining in it's own way.

Working my way through Heroes - Season 2. . . . . been doing a lot of fast-fowarding so far. PQ is as good as a TV show could possibly be though.

30Days of Night. Say what you will about the film itself (I know I have) but the A/V for this Blu Ray is incredible and seriously demo material. The level of detail, crispness & clarity is incredible!

The A/V is excellent. Reference quality - just like you stated. It's too bad the film itself didn't live up to it's potential. The first half was fun for me, but then it started to derail and it had a terrible ending IMHO. I blind bought this one thinking it would be a sure bet (the trailers alone made it look awesome) but alas I had to sell it after watching it - it was a fun disappointment, that's for sure.
