Typical Zach Braff humor with a cameo from his buddy from Scrubs. Decent little drama/comedy. Had trouble with the amount of time spent with the father dying from cancer. Having gone through that myself, will probably never be able to watch a movie like that without being disturbed.

Wish I Was Here was good and not as bad all the people on the internet said it was.

He did a interview for Off Camera with Sam Jones on Directv and he said he took a lot of shit for using a Kickstarter campaign for that movie.

Five Flights Up

For the 12th selection in my Netflix que it was better than what I expected.

Out of the Furnace...i just saw this and liked it very much. very slow burn and almost poetic in some of the carnage, both psychological and physical. performances were intense. liked it all around.

Justice League: Gods and Monsters - Easily the most creative and original story we've seen produced about DC's heroes in many years.

does it have replayability?

see, i think Wonder Woman is the best and most entertaining of the DC animateds. i really love that movie and have seen it several times now. how does G&M compare, not in terms of story, but that feeling you just want to pop it back in and relive epic moments like in WW.

I watched Wonder Woman last month and was pretty bored. I still think The Dark Knight Returns and Under the Red Hood are the best ones.

Re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?

Spoiler:
Was looking for something familiar and non demanding. Think this is about the third time I've watched it since it was released 5 years ago. That's pushing it for me. I'll be retiring this for at least the next 5 years. Probably longer.
Visually I still don't have problem with the MGM release. Looks right on to me, though I made a mistake not disengaging the dynamic iris for this.

Spoiler:
Early "body horror" from Cronenberg has Marilyn Chambers becoming a typhoid Mary after an experimental emergency surgical procedure has unexpected consequences.
Blind buy that I was hoping would click with me, but didn't. Cronenberg's ambition and inexperience are both on display though the later is mostly only noticeable in the finessing of some set pieces that would be a challenge for any lower budgeted production like this.
I know some fans have expressed issues with the color timing. I have no idea what this originally looked like theatrically- but I doubt it looked like this. While skin tones appear close, denim (for one thing) looks too green and the film as a whole had an unappealing visual aesthetic via this Bd for me.
Cool looking steelbook though
Oh well.

Spoiler:
Was expecting to like this and I did. Quite a bit. Left a significantly deeper impression than Apted's Enigma from over a decade and a half ago. I realize there were some liberties taken with the material here, but in terms of taking the various elements and pulling them together to craft an experience that felt whole and has a point, I can't really fault it. Excellent work all around, in front of and behind the camera, with a big surprise for me being just how solid Cumberbatch's performance was. Despite the enormous on paper similarities to Sherlock Holmes more notorious personality traits, I never once felt like I was watching a simple variation on a theme. His Turing felt like a fully inhabited and absorbed persona.
Will be buying a copy as soon as it hits $10 or under.

The Divergent Series: Insurgent (2015)

Rented the BD last night. Hated Shailene's hair, but other than that not too bad. Some good special FX and action. But, I have to admit that Shailene isn't the most credible action movie heroine. Very thin and doesn't have much muscle tone.

Curious to see where the story goes in Part 3. I think I will pick up the Target BD on Tuesday. I read it has a ton of extras plus a bonus disc.

Rosewater

The movie Jon Stewart made when he took time off from the Daily Show.

I hope he will do more movies though this was not a box office success but I doubt money was the primary reason he did it.

The Longest Ride (2015)

Rented this last night and watched it this afternoon. I really enjoyed this. I'm a sucker for Nicholas Sparks' romantic dramas. Very sweet and romantic movie about 2 people from opposite sides of life who are drawn together. I've been a fan of Britt Robertson since Life Unexpected and she was pretty good here. Scott Eastwood, Clint's kid, had some charm. Never seen him in anything before.

Melissa Benoist ,who is playing Supergirl on CBS, has a small part here.

This is probably the first Sparks movie that I've seen that doesn't even sickness or some major tragedy.

Get Hard

It was not perfect but it had some laughs

Comedy movies are hard to find these days and I will take what I can it.

It seems Hollywood releases only 5 major comedies every year and most are saved for the Summer

Watership Down (1978)

A bit surprised I had never seen this film before. My girlfriend picked it up during the B&N Criterion sale and introduced it to me over the weekend.

Watched the 1st & 2nd X-Men movies the last 2 nights (never bought The Last Stand, don't intend to), tonight we watched X-Men: First Class. We'd only ever seen it once so were entertained all over again. Good movie...

The steelbook is $4.99 at Best Buy but the artwork is atrocious.

Danny Collins

I liked it and one of the better movies I have seen in a while but I will always be a Pacino fan.

Jurassic Park

The dinosaurs look huge on a 65" screen.
