Zombie Strippers

Funny movie (I don't care what "purists" think), transfer was, well, I guess it was as good as it could look. Noisy as hell. Extras, well haven't watched them. Didn't really care too.

Evil Dead 2.

Not an amazing Blu-ray by any means, but man... the movie is still just as great. How can you not love it?

Just saw Deception and Hulk on Blu both pretty good.

At some point I'll have to check out Miami Vice on Blu. To be honest I only tried to watch it once. It just seemed like 2 guys mumbling in to their cell phones for an hour and I turned it off.

Just watched Superman Doomsday, pretty cool movie. Some good special features that came along with it I was actually interested in.

The Fall. Visually stunning film. I'm surprised it's rated R. It's actually more of a fairy tale--almost like a child's story...

Bump, beyotches.

Sin City - Looked and sounded exactly how I imaged it would. Hey, it actually looks like Mickey Rourke.

Hellboy 2 - Not as good as the first film, but still good. Both PQ and AQ were outstanding. Extras, like every Del Toro flick, are excellent also.

Daredevil - Shut up. I like it. Sue me. SQ is terrific and PQ was much better than I had expected. Real grainy, but that's how I remembered it. Great job FOX (bout time) with actually porting over ALL the extras from the previously released DVD's.

The Nightmare Before Christmas BD on Saturday. It was amazing. I blind bought it for $17. For once, I am certain that it was money well spent...

Young Frankenstein. I've already watched it three times. I just love the job Fox did with the transfer. I love that they left in the grain and didn't try to ruin the transfer with DNR. It shows how important HD video is because the previous DVD version had much of the grain, but lost a lot of the detail. This transfer has great detail and black level while also staying true to the grainy and dark 1930s Universal horror look they were going for.

As good as all the CGI stuff looks in HD it has been black & white movies like this, Casablanca and Good Night and Good Luck that have been my favorites. I just wish we could get those classic Universal horror originals in HD.

No Country for Old Men

This takes me back to the HD DVD days, since it takes about 90 seconds to see the two loading screens sandwiching the five trailers you have to skip past. By that time, my HD A1 might've booted up.

Watched Casino Royal (the 1-disc movie) as a prelude to the new bond flick (I refuse the utter that silly name they gave it) on Sunday. Nice, I still like watching this one. The new film is enjoyable as well. Not sure why critics are panning it -- unless it is because it's similar to Casino. And, yes, it's similiar... as much as any other Bond film is similar. Chases, explosions, one action set piece leads to one line of dialogue that leads you to the next action sequence, a few comical quips, babes in distress...

Ratatouille. I watch this 2-3 times a month. A nice way to show off BD, PS3, and the 50" plasma.
