Re: The Official Bond on Blu-ray Thread

I opened up NSNA and noticed it was an eco-case. This is what everyone has been crying about? I would never have noticed it was different until I pulled the disc out. What's the big deal? I can't believe people are actually going to waste time and effort seeking out older cases to replace these with.

^I don't think they're that bad either and environmentally, they make sense to me!

Re: The Official Bond on Blu-ray Thread

From the posts on here, it sounded like the cases were falling apart from the moment you opened them. They're perfectly fine. I don't see how these cases could affect anyone.

The steelbooks finally popped up at Future Shop. Picked up Moonraker, Goldfinger and World is not Enough today. Never Say Never Again was nowhere to be found on Blu-ray though...

The very first disc I bought with an eco-case ("Quantum of Solace"), the security tag was half on the plastic, half stuck to the backside of the cover art. You couldn't open the case without ripping or bending the cover art.

True story, I opened up my copy of Moonraker and the Eco-case snapped, flung across the room and stabbed my cat in the neck. True story*

I opened my NSNA tonight and it was a regular case. It arrived from DVD Planet last week.

It's not the new release version then. Check the issue date on the back. If it's not 2009 then it's the last release, which has better PQ anyways so you lucked out.

There is only one version of Never Say Never Again on Blu-ray.

Even if they are the eco cases... I do hate the eco cases with a passion. However, I would rather have the eco case, then the crappy cardboard packaging of the DVD Futurama features, or the latest season of The Simpsons.

Re: The Official Bond on Blu-ray Thread

ok, so we're a month or so away from wave 4 - is there still no news on a vol 4 boxset? i started buying them in the boxes when i would have preferred individual releases, so if they shaft us 9 films down the line i'm going to be pissed!

When The Man With The Golden Gun and License to Kill are released wide next month, I don't think these two titles plus a unknown third will make a Vol. 4 set.

These two titles have notoriously bad sellers in the past and I think MGM is just throwing them out there.

Unless they include Quantum of Solace is these sets, there was always going to an uneven number of individual titles versus number of sets containing three titles.

There will be Vol. 4 -- with three different titles -- at some point, but don't count on it in May.

Best Buy has an exclusive set with Man, License and Quantum.

Technically that's not in the same series as three Volume sets released so far.

It's just the three keep cases with a slipcover. It's not labeled as a numbered Volume.

I'm holding out for a #4. I have the first two and will pick up #3 at a decent sale. I've seen these movies so many times, I can wait.

I'm still wondering if MGM is going to continue with the Steelbooks.

I'm sure they will, but it's hard to say who will carry them next time.

As the man said, we're almost a month away. Wouldn't we have heard something by now?

Re: The Official Bond on Blu-ray Thread

To not continue the steelbooks shows a complete lack of understanding the mentality of the collector base.

It might seem silly, but I bet there are plenty of people that will dump their existing 9 on eBay and/or not buy the rest, for completist's sake.

Re: The Official Bond on Blu-ray Thread

I think you overestimate the number of people who care about packaging.

Even on a specialized forum like this, we are a small minority. In the purchasing public at large, we are likely completely insignificant.
