Wall-E 11/18!

pixarplanet.com has this report:

Today Walt Disney Home Entertainment announced that the WALL•E
DVD/Blu-Ray would both be released November 18th, 2008.

It features a
stunning design featuring WALL•E, EVE, M•O and Hal the cockroach
hurdling into space. The Blu-ray will be a two disc release, one disc
being the feature presentation and special features, and the second
being a digital copy of the film. The disc will also feature BD Live
which allows you to download content such as new special features,
updated previews, and more through a Blu-ray player connected to the
internet.

More details are expected to come on August 22nd regarding
the specific content and special features for each release.

Disney continues with the crappy studio logos. Disney DVD was terrible, Disney BD is equally bad, but Disney BD Live? Trifecta of terrible logo design. Then again it kinda fits the cover which is equally ugly.

Fortunately what's inside the case makes up for it.

Clearly you have not seen Hannah Montana or Camp Rock - there is so much shit at the bottom of the artwork, ugh.

As long as the spine is clean I'm fine.

Sometimes.

But remember, artwork helps sell a film at retail stores. That why they sometimes come with slip covers and the such.

Here's even more proof:

I think this came inside the Nightmare Before XMas BD. Some Best Buy put it out early...but at $34.99 I skipped over it.

Very excited about this - BEAUTIFUL Pixar film! There's so much going on in some sections I can't wait to be able to see it again.

Any word on any other Pixar movies not currently on BD? I'm really jonzin' for The Incredibles (plus my SD copy has some issues).

This will be a blind buy for me. With Finding Nemo delayed until 2009, I'm still hoping we get another Pixar film to debut with Wall-E. A Bug's Life perhaps? Not looking good though.

What's wrong with wanting some decent artwork to go with your $20+ purchase? Knowing how beautiful the movie is makes the cover look that much worse.

Same here. I lent Incredibles out and never got it back, and was tempted to rebuy it at $12.99 but I decided to hold out for an eventual Blu-ray.

I didn't see this in the theater, but it's Pixar, so it will be an instant buy.

The Digital Bits:

Hey kids... so the big news today is that Disney and Pixar are dropping Wall-E on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on 11/18. There will be a single-disc DVD (SRP $29.99), a 3-Disc Special Edition DVD (SRP $39.99), a 2-Disc Blu-ray edition (SRP $35.99) and a 3-Disc Blu-ray Edition (SRP $40.99).

The single-disc DVD will include the Presto animated short, the all new Burn-E animated short, audio commentary with director Andrew Stanton, deleted scenes, the Animation Sound Design: Building Worlds from the Sound Up featurette with Ben Burtt and the Sneak Peek: WALL-E's Tour of the Universe featurette.

To this, the 3-Disc Special Edition DVD will add additional deleted scenes, 3 featurettes (The Pixar Story by Leslie Iwerks, BnL Shorts and Wall-E's Treasures and Trinkets), the Lots of Bots storybook, additional "making of" featurettes, Bot Files and a Disney File (Digital Copy) version of the film.

The 2-Disc Blu-ray edition will include all of the above (minus the Digital Copy) and will add a Geek Track viewing option, the Cine-Explore with Andrew Stanton feature, PiP enhancement of Burn-E with storyboards, and an Axiom Arcade suite of "retro style videogames with a twist."

The 3-Disc Blu-ray will have all that and also include a Disney File (Digital Copy) version of the film. Whew!

It's great to hear they're making the DC optional like with Prince Caspian. It sounds like they've heard their customers (well, except those who want the DC for no more cost).

OT, and this is not directed at TDB in particular, but why did the term "drop" become popular?

I blame MTV and the hip-hop community.

I'm down for this one regardless of price. Don't think I'm springing for the digital copy though.
