What happened to all the B1G1 Free Blu-Ray offers?

Between Frys and Amazon there was a B1G1 Free BRD Movie offer practically every week in Nov and Dec. Now nothing since Xmas. What gives?

It's a little early for increased prices. Probably 6 months to a year before we notice it.

Their competition is with DVDs.

Conversation with friend, paraphrased:

Friend: Why should I buy a $300 Blu-ray player and then pay $5 - $10 more for movies?

Me: Because you're an obsessive film buff.

Friend: I'm not that obsessive.

Neither was June, July, August, September or October, yet their were numerous BOGOs running at numerous stores during this time.

All those great deals must have been funded by BDA marketing dollars to help it trounce HD DVD in disc sales. Now that no one cares about sales percentages, it's not worth it spend any money on such things.

I'm holding off buying any new discs until I see prices under $10, or B0G0 from Amazon, with a couple of exceptions.

Under $10? Really, you think that's reasonable?

+1

Amazon BOGOs at $19.95 per is my entry point for new discs. The B&M stores have a loooong way to go to get anywhere near this.

This reads like it could have been taken verbatim from one of Matt Groening's Life in Hell comic strips. Hilarious!

$11.99 for Black Hawk Down, Kung Fu Hustle and Bram Stoker's Dracula. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Competition between video game companies haven't brought their prices down. Why do some people expect Blu-Rays to drop below 10 dollars before they bite? A little silly if you ask me. HD-Dvd never really did any favors when it came to pricing either.

Same titles during the Amazon sale was $11.63 per disc (free shipping).

This sale $14.32 per disc with shipping. So... still not so hot.

Stay away from BSD Blu-ray. Supposed to be an awful transfer.
