The Bourne Ultimatum HD DVD Combo 12/11/07

UPDATED SPECS AND COVER ART, courtesy of HD Digest:

Now, the full dossier is in, and the title would seem to live up to expectations. Standard extras shared between the HD DVD and DVD versions include audio commentary with the filmmakers, 12 minutes of deleted scenes, and a collection of five featurettes totaling over 45 minutes: "Driving School," "New York Chase," "Planning the Punches," "Roof Top Pursuit" and "Man on the Move."

Exclusive to the HD DVD will be a "U-Control" picture-in-picture video commentary including additional cast & crew interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and more.

Tech specs are equally impressive, with the set including the studio's usual 1080p/VC-1 video and audio tracks in both Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 surround.

I must be the only person who likes combos.

My wife and I have a DVD/TV combo in the bedroom. So if you don't want to watch it on the HD-DVD player, we can do with the DVD in the other room.

Just convenient to have even if they are more expensive.

I love combos too. I let my dad who doesn't have a HDTV use them. I can also throw them on the tv in our workout room if I want to listen to something in the background.

I save money with combos so the 5 bucks or so isn't that bad.

I like combos too...especially for films like TMNT. That way my kid can watch it anywhere.

I am new to HD-DVD but have not had any problems with the combos I have bought so far. Why do I see so many random complaints about them?

Great news, my favorite movie of the year & IMO the best Bourne of them all. I only wish it was coming out sooner!

Because lots of people DO have problems with them (even as recently as 300).

A definite must own for any HD DVD owner for sure. I can't wait to see full specs, I have no doubt Universal will deliver a pretty packed disc, I just can't help but wonder how much of the behind the scenes turmoil during production is going to make the cut. (hopefully this thread won't devolve into another combo yay or nay thread...)

Here's where I find combos useful : When the HD-DVD side stops playing because of all the glitches, I can flip the disc over and watch the regular DVD side to see how the movie ends.

I am praying for a commentary with Greengrass and Damon.

I welcome buying this in HD-DVD, but wish that these combo discs weren't flippers. To me at least, it simply represents an additional side that can become scratched very easily versus a SD-DVD flipper. If the supposed triple layer hd-dvd were to become a reality sooner than later, the better.

Actually, the twin format (HD DVD and DVD on the same side) just got approved, so we should hopefully see those replace the combos.

Bandai's Freedom is an HD-DVD/DVD single sided HD15/DVD5 twin disc and it's been out for a couple months. Perhaps you are talking about a HD30/DVD5 twin disc?

But they could easily just do a two disc set and throw in the SD DVD for pennies on the dollar instead of the combo crap.

Which would encourage people to sell the DVD disc on eBay, thus causing the studio to lose revenue on sales for that format. Not something they want to happen.

Exactly...I mean, I'd go halfsies with my SD DVD pals on every title I wanted - they'd get the sd, i'd keep the hd. It would be a huge money loss if a studio went that route.

The Jason Bourne Collection HD DVD - 12/11/07

http://www.dvdtherapy.com/news.php

On December 11th Universal Home Video will release The Jason Bourne Collection on DVD and HD-DVD.

Quote:
The collection will include both previous Bourne films plus The Bourne Ultimatum for the first time. All three films will come housed in collectible 'Safe Deposit Box' packaging which will include a Jason Bourne passport. No disc specs have been released at this time but once we receive the final press release we will let you know!
Nice!! Glad I held off on the first two. Knew this would happen!
