I can't believe they're still doing this in 2008. Come on, people- user options!

It was probably a contractual obligation. I read BAC's Wild at Heart has forced subs on the English track, but not on the French dub. Are the subs on Dead Man actually burned-in or did they just enable the flag that keeps the user from switching them off?

Would a PS3 have issues with any Import's BD-Live enabled discs?

I just received Superbus: Live A' Paris today. It plays in my Dad's Samsung P1500, but will not get past the studio logo in my PS3.

Any reason for this?

Good, they went that route.

If that's the same with the Wong Kar Wai Blu-ray box, then it should look like the standard definition case as well:

The box set is a DVD-only release for now. Happy Together hasn't been announced for Blu.

Lots of European discs have a menu screen and/or trailers in either 576i50 or 1080i50 format and a few even have a main feature thats in 1080i50. So even if the disc is region ABC, it doent mean it will play on players that dont support i50 material.

Pain in the butt eh?

Very much so

It was my first import Blu-Ray disc, so I should have been more careful. Though I couldn't say no to one of my favorite French Pop/Rock bands in Blu-Ray glory.

Probably going to ahead and order the Special Edition DVD and hold onto the Blu-Ray disc (since it seems to still play in anything but the PS3)

You know, between reading it on one Artificial Eye release listing site (here, at DVDtimes.co.uk) and hearing pro-b mention it, I was assuming that it was solid. However, the fact that there's not even a mention of it on Amazon.co.uk yet is more telling.

The only upcoming Blu-ray releases on that DVD Times list are AOT and Chungking Express. And as far as I can tell pro-b has never said that Happy Together would be coming to Blu (in fact he's said exactly the opposite). I assume it will come someday (I have to imagine it would be a decent seller), but something is probably holding it up for now.

Whoops, you're right on pro-b's comment. I just blurred together my information between the two threads edit: and a misread on that site I listed.

Nevermind!

In France, there's a rumor about TF1 releasing Polanski's Pirates in March 2009.
