The 2-disc, 5-version MoC edition of Touch of Evil is a thing of beauty.

The cover art is really cool. I wish we could get that stuff Region A. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

- Tess (Polanski)
- Dreamchild
- Paperhouse

Oh, and I just noticed someone else said...

- The Iron Giant (I've been deliberately not watching the DVD for years in anticipation of an HD release. So fingers crossed.)

Also, my old friend Frank LaLoggia's 1989 ghost story semi-classic...

- Lady in White (Which, btw, he remastered in HD several years ago for the most recent DVD release. So the HD version exists, just hasn't been released yet.)

Oh, oh... and someone else said...

- Photographing Fairies (I have a DVD I burned from a pan'n'scan VHS, but it looks shockingly good, considering.)

- Until the End of the World
- A Summer Story (NOT the Christmas Story sequel)
- Whale Rider
- Romeo and Juliet (Zeffirelli)
- Jean de Florette/Manon of the Spring
- Vampyr
- The Abyss
- Vertigo
- More Ghibli
- Star Trek: TMP Director's Cut
- Superman II Theatrical Cut
- Star Wars original versions (HAHHAHAHAHHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAA!!!!!)

My very short wish list (including the ones mentioned above) includes Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Of Mice and Men, Last American Virgin, and The Crucible.

What I want to see is "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai" on blu ray. It would be great if it was Criterionized as it is a Jim Jarmuash(sp?) film.

"Fresh" would also be awesome on blu ray. One can only dream though.

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

I want Ghostbusters 2 on Blu Ray more then anything else. Ghostbusters is my favorite film of all time, and even though the sequel isn't as good it really annoys me that it's not on Blu Ray.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but I just saw that Danny Boyle's Shallow Grave is coming out on Criterion Blu Ray this week.

Operation Petticoat is one I'd love to have. Cary Grant, Tony Curtis, directed by Blake Edwards...and a big hit in 1960.

I'd like to see the Bruce Lee films aside from Enter the Dragon make their way to Blu-ray. Also Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story would be nice as well.

Yes, definitely. I'm sure I've championed this one before.

Saw it in the theatre on release and was semi-shocked there was no Oscar nomination for Mr. Ford, considering that he got one for Witness the year before. That was a fine performance, also directed by Peter Weir, but I maintain to this day that The Mosquito Coast is the best performance I've ever seen from him. His descent into madness is shocking and disturbing, especially as he becomes increasingly cruel to his wife and children.

This reminds me that there are key films in Mr. Weir's filmography missing on BD, either in region A or worldwide. Fearless has been mentioned, and maybe one day Criterion will get around to giving us a region A BD of Picnic at Hanging Rock, and/or The Last Wave (another film I admire a good deal).

Any word on the Marx bros.? I don't expect a boxed set, but A Night at the Opera and Duck Soup should make it at some point, right?

I agree, and it makes his nearly two-decade auto-pilot run of completely forgettable work all the more galling. Clearly he can act, he's just content coasting and cashing the easy paychecks.
