Not out of left field for me....I definitely want the same thing! Maybe if Miramax finally gets sold, then they can get the ball rolling eventually with this one...if I had the chance, I would have asked him specifically about this when I saw him at his DC live Q&A two weeks ago...

No release date yet, but Smith has mentioned that the BD will be fully loaded and that he recorded a "Maximum Movie Mode" track for it....

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

I could create a list as long as my arm, but my top ten choices are:

01) The Red Violin
02) The Talented Mr. Ripley
03) Barry Lyndon
04) Road to Perdition
05) Lawrence of Arabia
06) My Left Foot
07) A Very Long Engagement
08) Hud
09) The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
10) Before the Rain

Glad to hear at least one is coming out this year! I wasn't sure how much B&W films would benefit from Blu until I saw "Casablanca". I'm definitely sold on the format. I'm probably one of the last DVD holdouts, after collecting them for over a decade, I just switched to Blu last month!

I'd like this as well, but it doesn't seem like Disney has any interest in issuing their live-action catalog titles on Blu-ray.

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

I have to wonder what the problem with American Pie is. Multiple SD releases, multiple sequels and spin offs, but no Blu release yet? It should be at the top of Universal's list!

Others I want:
Lethal Weapon 1-4 with director's cuts of the first 3
Judge Dredd
Lionheart
Deep Rising
Cobra
Glimmer Man (and all other Seagal films up to Exit Wounds)
Punisher EXTENDED CUT
Abyss
Star Wars 1-6
Indiana Jones
ANYTHING that was only released in a snapper case, matted or fullscreen transfer

In honor of D-Day I watched my SE of Tora Tora Tora. Even though it's primitive by today's standards, meaning they really had to blow shit up and actually had to have planes in the air, I am hoping this comes to Blu-ray soon.

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

My "dream" list:

1. Star Wars Trilogy --Okay, many of my favorite movies are already on Blu-ray or coming soon. This would be an instant buy.
2. Taxi Driver --All-time favorite here.
3. James Dean 3-pack: --Hope I'm not cheating here... but I really want East of Eden, Giant and Rebel Without a Cause
4. Criterion releases of the following: Solaris (1972), Stalker, Andrei Rublev
5. Barry Lyndon --Favorite Kubrick film
6. The Rocketeer --Childhood favorite, non-anamorphic DVD to Blu-ray would be a huge jump
7. City of God --Preferably a Criterion release
8. Back to the Future Trilogy --all-time favorite
9. Clay Pigeons & Swingers --want some early Vince Vaughn
10. Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet --guilty pleasure

So, as a change of pace I thought I'd clarify how good Blu-ray has been to my tastes. A lot of my all-time favorite movies have already been released:

Leon: The Professional
True Romance
Boogie Nights
Chungking Express
Bottle Rocket
Vivra sa vie
Memento
Pulp Fiction (Nordic Import)
There Will Be Blood
Casablanca
Children of Men
From Dusk Till Dawn (Canadian Import)
Magnolia
Unbreakable
Snatch

Yep. There was also a Canadian release that I had pre-ordered but it ended up getting cancelled indefinitely.

Star wars collection for me. I haven't bought any of the dvd's yet.. Was waiting on a complete box with all 6 movies and never got one. Hopefully they will do it with the blu.

Otherwise I will not be upgrading to blu for any of my dvd's.. unless its a hella good deal.

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

Definitely in for all the Star Wars films, as many versions as they can cram in there, I want them all.

But only slightly off the beaten path, I'd also love a release of the theatrical cut of Star Trek: The Motion Picture without having to buy that whole boxset. What would really be great would be a three disc Bluray set with the theatrical, the Director's Cut with the FX done at hidef standards, then whatever kind of release they could do of the old "Special Longer Version" that was on VHS and LD.

Along the same lines, I'd love for Paramount to give Shatner the chance to redo the FX and recut The Final Frontier. There's an interesting kernel of a story hiding in there, along with several great character moments. This movie truly deserves the chance to improve its reputation.

And from my sig for those blocking sigs: Don Juan DeMarco, Mortal Kombat, Justice League S1 in widescreen, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker uncut and Mafia!

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

So I've been doing some exporing round about these interwebs looking for the theatrical cut of Star Trek the Motion Picture (like I was just mentioning above), and Amazon UK has this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Trek-Pi...6831066&sr=1-4

Is this the theatrical cut and is it region free? I have a US PS3 if that matters.

thanks

The Universal and Hammer horror classics. The rest of the Bonds, dang it. Both wide and full screen versions of Lady and the Tramp. While on Disney, 101 Dalmatians, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, 20,000 leagues. Raiders and Star Wars.

I was just thinking that I'd really like to see Little Children come to BD.

Re: Your Blu-ray wish list / "When will _______ be on Blu-ray?"

I would love to see 'Boyz 'N' Hood' get a Blu release - one of my all time faves that I really need to revisit since it's been a while since I last saw it.

I'm a little more "picky" now when it comes to get blu rays since my DVD collection got carried away so I'm really only looking to pick up titles that I want and not just because they are cheap so to speak.
