Sony loves making promises they can't keep. One thing is for sure, the PS3 is going to make many people a fortune on eBay. Imagine how hard to get the HDMI model will be.

"Sony has now lowered its estimate of 4 million PS3s shipped by the end of 2006 to a more realistic 2 million."

Shocker.

Check any of your favorite news sources, it went out over Associated Press.

I want to know how many of those PS3's on launch date will be the 'core' tyep system, and how many will be the HDMI-equipped system.

Didn't someone from Sony just say that they haven't started to produce these units yet for North America? At least it is a more realistic number now.

I am getting more and more convinced that Blu-Ray is going to be a major dissapointment .

1. The first batch of discs are a dissapointment quality-wise , let alone the titles.

2. The players are late in arriving.......only Samsung saw it fit to release a player in time for the launch.

3. Now Sony is delaying the PS3 for Europe which is not only a major loss for the gamers over here but also for the people who wanted to buy a "cheap" blu-ray player.

I think at least over here in Europe people won't buy into the whole Blu-Ray thing.
I talked to several people about this new technology and most say they won't buy it.
But on the other hand they won't buy into HD-DVD either..........the most costomers I talk to are just fine with having a dvd-player (which most of them just got).

We will have to wait and see how this will work out when players for both formats finally arrive but it doesn't sound good.

Yeah, I really think with this delay and the recent delays of the standalone players til November, we might even see them lower the number even further or even delay until March.

For the sake of argument, how badly would Blu-Ray get hurt if the PS3 is delayed to March 07 for the U.S.?

I would figure it would be a devestating blow to them.

Hence the reason why they're getting...SOMETHING...out for November.

Oh and reports are coming out that they're not starting production until the end of the month.

Good luck.

It would be a devastating blow for the PS3.

Because it would give Xbox another holiday season and Nintendo a good start.

As far as BD, it could be hard for them to recover depending on HD-DVD's success this holiday season. If HD-DVD doesnt do so hot, then it wont matter much to BD.

I suspect that the 360 addon is going to sell better than people think.

Yes, choo-f'n-choo.

What's really funny is how if you propose a PS3 delay the BD crowd yells "FUD", "no evidence" and argues until they're Blu in the face. Remeber when people were saying there would probably be a delay when the news came out about Sony not even having a production start date? Oh, no, Sony would never, ever delay the PS3.

I guess the US delay will come closer to November.

How is Japan going to respond to coming out a week before the US but with 1/4 of the units?
