First HD-DVD titles listed on Amazon

I wrote a script that scrapes Amazon's DVD listings for new releases, and this morning, I noticed the following Paramount HD-DVDs in the results.

Aeon Flux (6/6/06)
Braveheart (10/31/06)
Four Brothers (4/11/06)
The Italian Job (4/4/06)
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (4/11/06)
The Manchurian Candidate (6/6/06)
Sahara (5/9/06)
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (3/14/06)
U2 - Rattle & Hum (3/28/06)
The Ultimate Star Trek Movie Collection (11/7/06)
We Were Soldiers (5/23/06)

I'm not necessarily expecting the release dates to hold -- posting this purely as a curiosity.

Interesting. So I guess they finally have a date set. Looks like HD-DVD won't have that lead they were counting on to beat Blu-Ray (who many expect to announce similar plans next week). Of the titles, the only one I would need is Braveheart.

Only 1 for me: The Italian Job. And it's definitely not a "must." But I've said it before and I'll say it again: BRING IT ON.

(no, not the movie )

I am going to hold out for Blue Ray, but it will be interesting to check out Braveheart in HD.

Here are some more from amazon

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ex...+DVD]&mode=dvd

They are mixed in. Ones that caught my eye would be Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, the Matrix, and Batman Begins. Maybe we can get a new Harry Potter set with matching cases.

Ugh....Se7en. The Aviator. Batman Begins. T3.

Amusing that it says "Friends." Could you imagine them releasing all 10 seasons at once?

I'm still waiting for Blu-Ray as well. This should be a very very interesting year

Not bad, although it's funny that Amazon.com still lists them as "NTSC"

While HD will probably take 2-3 years for me to adopt, I'll be serious about adopting once 2001: A Space Odyssey appears on the list.

Whoops, yeah, there are some Warner HD-DVD titles in there. My scraper didn't pick up on them because they don't have release dates.

It's probably too tightly integrated with the rest of DVD Talk's DVD/review management system to be that useful to the world at large.

It seems like a good mixture of movies, but nothing I would probably buy.

Very interesting some of those seem tempting....I'll be curious to see some prices at some point. I'm sure it'll be way more than I'm willing to drop. Especially since we have two formats.

I'll stick with Blu-Ray since I'm gonna be purchasing PS3 when it's released.

I don't understand the correlation between games and movies. In fact, I don't get why it's a major issue at all, games and movies are separate. Plus, who cares about consoles; PC gaming is always better.

Two reasons. PS3 will be cheaper than a stand-alone BR player. PS3 offers an all in one solution to movies, games, music.

Looks like the cases will be Blue Amarays. That will set them apart. I'm surprised that the retailers didn't insist on smaller Jewel Case sized packages. Not that I'm complaining since the dimensions of a standard DVD case are perfect for showcasing a movie's theatrical poster with little to no cropping.

There are some quality titles in that picture- Kill Bill, PotC, Reservoir Dogs...

Sweet.
