Just a quick question

Do we have the ability to use the "strike" code in this forum? If so, what's the bracket code for it? I've tried strike and [strike]strike[/strike] and neither work. It's for my WWF/WCW retro journal in the sports forum.

Re: Just a quick question

I was asking myself this question just last night. But WHY does strikethrough use < and > while every other VB code uses [ and ] ? Both the OP and I (and others, I'm sure) would have been able to answer our own questions if this editor feature was standardized. See http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/misc.php?do=bbcode#s .

I use it <strike>all the time</strike> when I want to be an annoying pedant.

I hate it when people at work say "Quick question" because it never is.

Having to preface anything with quick in front of it usually means the exact opposite.

Re: Just a quick question

I have always been bugged by the use of quick or fast used in this context.

Maybe if arghgs said short question instead.

Bugs me in a sports context too when the announcer says the team got off to a quick or fast start
when the team scores a couple of goals or runs early in a game.

They actually scored EARLY in the game. The speed of the team or game didn't change.

Re: Just a quick question

I also have a bias against thread titles that offer no clue what they're about. Sometimes I click into it and punch myself in the face when I realize I already read it.

From where I'm sitting the link you gave shows that the [ s ] code for strikethough uses the same square bracked format as other VBB codes.

It doesn't actually work here so I must assume that it hasn't been enabled.

The < s > alternative Dan gave is HTML and which we know does work.

I've sometimes used < strike > which I thing may be supported and was a legacy bit of HTML I believe.
