The Future of Premium Membership

A few months ago, I inquired in the premium forum about the benefits of being a premium member. IBobi replied with the following:

A few minutes ago, I received an e-mail from PayPal stating that my premium membership subscription had been cancelled by DVDTalk.com. Does this mean that new information will be revealed in the near future? Or is the premium membership simply going away? Seems a little strange to get this cancellation notice before anything was posted here on the site about it.

What, you don't want us Non-Prems to know what's going on?

You'll have to pay to find out why they'll cancel your membership.

I'm running around getting some final XMas shopping done. When I get in front of a computer, I'll look at your account.

I'm guessing it means that his premium membership expired. Can you still access the premium forum, Psi?

Re: The Future of Premium Membership

No, everything "premium" about me is gone. The premium forum is not visible, and the hat is gone too.

I have been a premium member since this debuted, and was planning to remain one until the program is cancelled, so

VinVega, since you are still shopping, I would like an iPad Mini, 128 GB space gray. I hear it's hard to find.

Or a premium membership at DVDTalk. That is also in high demand.

That's just it. The program has been cancelled. Within a matter of days/weeks, everyone will lose their hat.

Re: The Future of Premium Membership

Alas, all my exciting benefits (hat, forum, panic button, countdown?) are no more, as well. That's what I get for signing up early, I wonder who'll be last.

Re: The Future of Premium Membership

1. Ignore forum
2. Forum gets pissy and revolts
3. Give forum small cost free upgrade and promises of "more to come"
4. Forum settles down as they choose avatars
5. Ignore forum
6. Profit

Re: The Future of Premium Membership

Psi, I guess your membership expired to Premium-land. No, there's no way to bring the hat back. Perhaps I should change my avatar?

Not to mention that I can still enter the 14 premium contests that were unveiled today.

Truthfully, my days are numbered. And so is my hat.

Re: The Future of Premium Membership

It's not a big thing, but it just feels wrong that they can't cancel premium membership for everyone at the same time. I don't imagine that there are that many members to manage.
