Where did the Target Black Friday thread go?

I know it was there this morning with like 3 pages? Pretty sure in Blu-ray Bargains Forum. I searched and found nothing. Not closed, just vanished...

Perhaps i am blind? perhaps it was against forum rules to post so early? if so please close this thread asap.

In a different thread not too long ago, a mod said that BF ads can't be posted here until the Sunday of that week, I believe.

it was not deleted, just removed. it can be moved back if desired once the ad officially is released.
and ads can be discussed here once they are officially on a retailer's website. if it's before then, it will be removed.

Black Friday is racist so it was closed.

Yeah, it's African-American Friday from now on.

There was a weatherman on TV the other day who began to talk about the indian summer we're having--but he quickly corrected himself and actually said "Native American summer." Easily the most-retarded thing I'd heard in quite some time.

And I'm not arguing the point, just genuinely curious...why are "next week's" ads allowed (sometimes with scans) and Black Friday's aren't?

[I searched the Feedback Forum titles for "Black Friday"]

It seems to go back as far as 2002:And see Goff's 2005 comment: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/6570288-post6.html

Unless/until we hear to the contrary, I assume that IB are maintaining that policy.

You are correct. Our policy has not changed.

It's close enough to Black Friday that we can have discussions about it now. But we still don't want posts just sending members to other sites to see the deals.

Re: Where did the Target Black Friday thread go?

Earlier I was reading ast MSNBC that stores are now actually sending out copies to sites that post black friday ads, that they see the "leaks" as free advertising. And that no sites are being sued any more, maybe a cease and desist letter but if that happens just pull the ad.

Here are some big sites that are talking about specific black friday deals:

USA Today: A roundup of Black Friday 2010 tips, deals and advice

ABC News: How to Find the Best Deals on Black Friday - The Best Deals from Walmart to Etsy

CNN Money: Black Friday doorbuster deals can be had online

Fox News: Retailers Unwrap Black Friday Deals

I'm just saying that back in '02 yes, there were some threats of litigation but it's no longer an under the table topic. If CNN, ABC, Fox, and USA Today can discuss specific details, why not DVDTalk?

So would a post of "What's the best Black Friday deal on an LCD TV under 40 inches?" or "Here are the Black Friday Blu-Ray specials" be OK? I mean a post right now, five days or so before the actual ads are in the newspapers?

It's time for DVDTalk to change it's policy on Black Friday ads. You're just driving people away from this site, and the business' don't care about their ads being released.

Re: Where did the Target Black Friday thread go?

Went to Target tonight and saw multiple seasons of House, Psych and Burn Notice. I did not notice these in Target's BF ad, but they may be on sale for 12.99 or 13.99 (Like Monk S7 last year).

Also Mamma Mia 2D was put out (as were most of their stuff), but this had a special sticker that allowed it to be purchased today for 3.99. If you don't want to fight the crowds and just want that one, now's the time to go.

I'm not reporting BF ads, just my personal sitings.

In Feedback?

As the question has been asked & answered, I'm now closing this thread before material appropriate to other forums becomes more prevalent.
