Re: Can the smiley list be better organized?
Real Life intervened. Watch this space next week...
EDIT: definitely during August. It needs to be done in one fell swoop and for the past many weekends I've not had the continuous sequence of free computer time. But it'll be done sooner or later.

September 1 update
While doing it this, it suddenly struck me that the more OCD-oriented amongst you (us) could always commit to memory the entire roster of abbreviations; thereby obviating any dropdowns/masterlists...!
Anyways, several months ago I was told by our friendly neighbourhood IB-rep that the first fifteen in the master list will form the dropdown list, so I've proceeded accordingly.
(Something I did observe during my foray into the relevant control panel suggested that somewhat fewer than the 6x20 smilies from there were actually displaying in the the master list visible to all when posting. Should that prove to be the case when the job is done, [EDIT: now not sure that it does as I can see 120 both ways at the moment!] I'll have to ask IB to step in should it cause a problem/inconvenience).
Please note that, although I've now had my first good-faith attempt at this, I recognise that I will have to check/tweak over the weekend in order to achieve a relatively consistent overall list that is broadly in accordance with what most people are after.

No wonder I delayed this until having a good long time to spare - then did it ANYWAY!
Not quite sure that entirely worked as planned... (so) roll on the weekend!
PS) For the most part, the duplicate-type smilies are deliberately sited at the end of the masterlist. Any others I spot will go there as part of the weekend re-shuffle. Likewise, I'll make sure that "non-smiley" smilies are all grouped etc. etc. etc. It'll be easier second time around now I (pretty much) know how the system works.
