Blu-ray Bargains Forum

First, I want to thank the mods, administrators and IB representatives for the Blu-ray Bargains forum. It was sorely needed and it will be a great addition for the community here. Still, I got a few suggestions:

1. Please add the Blu-ray bargains forum to both drop down menus.
2. Put an announcement in the other forums, especially the DVD bargains one, so people start posting there and know that we have now a specialized forum for Blu-ray deals.

Thanks again for the new forum.

Re: Blu-ray Bargains Forum

I don't think these requests can be honored until the Blu-ray Bargains section gets their own sponsor.

Re: Blu-ray Bargains Forum

Currently the Blu-Ray Bargains Forum is listed in its own right on the main page rather than being a sub-forum. This makes it more visible to members navigating that way. Also, some of the threads moved from elsewhere have re-directs which should also garner attention. If you see any threads in the "wrong" forum, please use "Report this Post" or PM to prompt the stand-in mod to make any necessary moves.

I can't speak for the dropdown suggestion which I presume will come to pass in the fullness of time although other threads suggest that any changes to these can take a while to register with &/or confuse certain browsers. Assuming that this isn't a matter of customised coding being required, I would guess that this relates to some caching issue with said browsers.

Re: Blu-ray Bargains Forum

There is an announcement from Pilot on the DVD Bargains page now.

And yes, thanks to IB and all of you admins/mods for the work you do here.

Re: Blu-ray Bargains Forum

Blu-ray will be moved to a sub of DVD Bargains instead of it's own later on today/tonight.

The following isn't meant to sound whiny, just more an observation and query as to whether it can be easily changed.

It strikes me as odd that the subforums threads get put into the thread email notifications for it's main forum.

For example, I subscribe to the DVD Clubs forum, to get a daily email of all new activity in that forum. But all those same thread notifications also get mixed into my DVD Bargains daily email. This will happen with the Blu-Ray subforum as well I imagine.

I do not use notifications, so I can't say. Dick might be able to answer the question, but from how you describe it, it sounds like a hierarchy type thing that might not easily be changed..

That's too bad, I liked where it was. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

Re: Blu-ray Bargains Forum

I really prefer the Blu-ray forum as it's own forum rather than a subforum. I come in and see that there are new posts in DVD Bargains only to go there and see that there are only new posts in the Blu-ray Bargains in which I have no interest whatsoever. It's very annoying. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Blu-ray Bargains Forum

I think DVD should be a sub of Blu-ray.

Re: Blu-ray Bargains Forum

It's fine where it is now. But eventually, there will/should be a whole forum group section for blu-ray.
Example:
Blu-ray discussions
- Blu-ray talk
- Blu-ray reviews
- Blu-ray bargains
- International Blu-ray talk
etc.

And in ten years, no DVD forums at all!
