I just saw that myself. Guess the orange circles make it a family friendly torture chamber movie!

Holy crap, that cover just splashed on my screen as I was browsing Otterville (and with the missus walking by too - what a discussion that would have generated had she seen it

Looks like Amazon shows it that way. And that's been the rule about what's acceptable.

Maybe it's just 'me', but I can't see it clearly enough to say if it's really that naughty or not!
(I actually tried to click on the image, hoping 'it' would enlarge, but sadly, 'it' didn't! )However, if someone can make it 'click to enlarge', I might be able to see (with greater detail) what all the 'hub-hub' is all about! ![]() -THEEK! ![]() Last edited by The Edit King; 12-06-07 at 02:46 PM. |

What I don't understand is the Geoff obviously prefers to have this stuff on the site and then Don Houston will run out to defend the placement of every possible pornographic image or depiction as if we're the ones that are wrong for even mentioning that material like this doesn't belong unexpectedly in the forum. I strongly disagree with that, but it's not my decision. I don't know why he won't just put his foot down on this (like he did on the guns discussion issue, which I do agree with him on) and just allow whatever content that he pleases on here and make the decision known.
Instead, sometimes virtually X-rated stuff like this pops up in the normal forums and isn't expected. If I knew what to expect with some consistency, I have no issue if shit like this pops up every now and again.

The review in question is here: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=31600 As far as my previous dedication to defending the faith on covers being shown on an adult site read by adults, your mileage may certainly vary. What got extremely old was the handful of same people pointing out every cover they didn't like and trying to generate ill will by providing the same argument on a regular basis, even after G! and the Admin/Mods would give the "If Amazon sells it..." speech. The strawman argument of my defending "the placement of every possible pornographic image or depiction" is false but I suspect you knew that, this being a variation of the theme that has been addressed scores of times too. For the record, he has "put his foot down" many times in the past but those who want things done their own way never cease to complain, the evolution of the website being such that moving all the TRULY pornographic titles catered to the needs of the few (but, as predicted, it will never be enough for the prudes). G! is free to change what goes where and as one of his "inner circle" of friends, I will support his decision, but at this writing, the "Amazon sells it, it's fair game" rule still seems to apply. Maybe next we'll have certain people protesting specific adult text too... Good luck with your quest! |

How did Amazon become the bar? You can buy dildo's on Amazon. So that means it would be ok to have dildo ads in the regular forums?

![]() The other first question is probably best answered like this: They are one of the biggest retail websites on Earth, they are an affiliate, and they do "set a standard" of sorts by virtue of what they sell. Running a website like DVD Talk is a balancing act and various covers have been taken out of rotation in the past but many others still feel that a website like this should not try to be all things to all people; perhaps a coding solution by the nice folks at IB can assist the more sensitive... Lunatikk, good point. |

![]() [Edited - I don't think the intent of the "Amazon" rule was that the largest image you could find at Amazon would be appropriate for work. These review covers are thumbnails and even Amazon makes you click the thumbnail to get the larger image. -X] |

You'll probably respond with a, "Well...I didn't mean *YOU*", since you are famous for generalizing. -p ps. The 'sniff' test for me is if it'd be something I'd publicly display in a typical store, in the plain view of all customers. Frankly, I'd consider the above as pornographic.
