What are the rules on review images showing throughout the day?
Three times, the third moments ago, I've seen Review images for adult titles being shown.
Attached is the image of the latest one.
Right now, not so much an issue as I'm at home. But the previous two times were in the morning when looking at work. The images looked like reviews of two playboy videos.
Sorry for the bit larger image, but I wanted it to show the timestamps on some of the threads. I tried to shrink it to a smaller size, but it lost a lot of the text detail.

This has been brought up several times before... if it's sold on AMAZON.COM, then it's mainstream. That includes the playboy stuff and whatever else. If it's sold on Adult DVD Empire, it's listed only in the Adult Forum section.

A few weeks ago, I was horrified to find the following title running on the "New Reviews" side of the screen several times a day.
And the reviewer kept acting like it was some "arty" movie! Very disappointed.

Thanks. Those are generally the worst to have pop up at work.
But I respect Geoff's decision on the covers in general and just scroll past down as fast as possible when at work.

But seriously, that's a fairly lame excuse when examined under scrutiny. These are usually reviews that we're talking about. As part of the reviewer's duties, it could easily be assigned to them to evaluate the cover art and alert Geoff to potentially risquè ones. Problem solved.

1) Sometimes DVD Talk is sent check discs, and cover art isn't mailed with those types of DVDs. Also, to cut down on shipping costs, the discs are often mailed separately from the packaging, so the reviewer may even have a review written and published before ever even seeing the cover art. Sometimes the art is listed on sites like Amazon, but sometimes it can be surprisingly difficult to track an image down. There is an 'internal comments' field that reviewers can use to send comments to Geoff before approval, and these sorts of comments can be put there. As far as I know, no one's ever commented on the offensiveness of cover art there.
2) It may never occur to the reviewer that someone might find a particular cover offensive. The example I point to when this thread comes up every month or two is a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit DVD. It's the type of thing that's clearly displayed on newsstands, yet some people were up in arms when that cover art was in rotation. The Playboy covers aren't any worse than that. I don't know if it's just the stigma of the name 'Playboy' or what.
I do think it's kinda funny that there have never been any complaints about bloody, gory covers, but a couple of pixels of cleavage in a 113 pixel image has so a couple of people ranting and raving.

In regards to number 2, I think it would be just any covers with graphic violence, foul language, sexually suggestive pictures, or scantily clad females.
Basically anything you think a decent amount of people would want their kids or coworkers to see when they walk by.
I don't think it would be that difficult to come up with some standards.

True, and I said I'm fine with the current role. I was just playing devil's advocate there.
It's not problem for me to try to scroll by fast as I do that even at home because I don't care about the ads and reviews on this site.

Come on what is the big deal? There is no nudity being shown. The cover of a Maxium or FHM is more suggestive.

People don't have Maxim's or FHM's on their desk at work, or around their kids, but may have other non-sexually oriented magazines around. They get annoyed when they occasionally have something pop up that is offensive to them (i.e. an add that resembles and FHM cover) in their otherwise kid/office safe magazine.
Thus the people complaining look at this site the same way. It's generally completely office/kid safe as long as you stay out of the adult forum and reviews area, but occassionaly an non kid/work safe image pops up.

I seriously doubt that most of the people "complaining" here are offended by the images. The point is that if they have them on their screen at work, SOMEONE ELSE may be offended by them and land them in HR hell.
I'm also just playing Devil's Advocate on the behalf of others. You can replace all the smilies with boobies for all I care.

Guys... Final ruling here. It's our policy:
If Amazon stocks it. We'll run it in the space.
I apprecaite some of your concerns. But this is the way it has been and the way it will be.

I'm not sure the forum sw supports it would it be possible to add the <img src="http://rcm-images.amazon.com/images/G/01/associates/remote-buy-box/buy5.gif"> button under the image. Hopefully it'll help cut down on the number of times this question is asked
