Banned?!? He was one of the best posters always posting the Sunday ads early! I hope he comes back. I just thought he was on vacation.

Agreed, it's a shame. Hope he comes back, not sure if I would though if I were in his shoes.

He wasn't banned, he was suspended briefly. He posted Black Friday ads, but Static didn't realize it was before the thread about not posting them and getting yourself suspended. Eventhough Static said he wouldn't suspend him, I guess he forgot and accidentally did. Awhile later, everything got cleared up and he unsuspended him, when he made sure that no other mods had suspended him for some other reason. But by then, it was too late. He hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Do come back, buddy.

He was suspended over a simple misunderstanding like THAT?! RIDICULOUS!

You know, a friendly warning would have been MUCH more appropriate considering his clean slate and numerous contributions to DVD Talk.

For those of you who haven't heard of jblackland, you obviously don't come to this section of the DVD Talk forums very often.

NOTE: I don't mean to start any trouble with the moderators. They are doing a great job and aren't power hungry like the mods on other boards, but they made a mistake here - plain and simple.

If this was a mistake by Static he should at least post here or on some thread an apology for the mistake and all can then move on!

No, he SHOULD NOT. The suspension was like 10 minutes at most. Mods aren't perfect, but they do a great (and thankless) job. You would be better off to be reminded of that. Geoff provides an amazing FREE service to us all and he should be thanked for that and so should the mods who help him make it possible. I'm not brown-nosing, but it pisses me off when people act like this.

It was considerably more than 10 minutes.

It was also a mistake and I don't blame Static.

THIS is what's wrong with society these days! No one apologies for THEIR mistakes but rather the person (or someone else sticking up for them) like to make excuses why it was OK to not rightfully apologize! No one takes responsibilty for THEIR actions any more! "Oh, he murdered someone but it's OK because he had a terrible upbringing", or "it's OK that she killed her baby she had post-pardom depression". I don't care if it takes a lot of work to do this (and I'm sorry but a MOD does not spend countless hours doing this - only Geoff does) it doesn't excuse people to feel they don't need to show some common courtesy to others!

A simple "sorry my bad" goes a long way to mend any bad feelings for a mistake.
