First off I'm using Windows Vista w/both service packs 32 bit operating system.

When I use the photo uploader for facebook it shows folders that I downloaded and have deleted months ago as being on my desktop.
Is there a way of deleting stuff on desktop path that appears on these uploaders? I can post a screen shot if anyone needs it.

Thanks

it's all over bit torrent and you can download it on some websites. you'll most likely need vmware. the final version will run on netbooks.

i tried it on a test vmware system i have at work with no DHCP. can't get past the login screen because it didn't get an IP and it needs internet access to function. it uses your google ID for authentication. and there was no way to configure networking prior to login

downloaded vmware player and will play with it again tonight

i love how it's 2009 and Google plans on selling a computer with no functionality without internet access. my commodore 64 worked just fine without the internet, AOL or prodigy. the experience made me want to dump my iphone and get a Droid. who needs 2GB of apps you can use without internet access?

I recently purchased the mentioned drive from Costco for $129 (after taxes). I thought it was a good deal.

I haven't opened it up yet. I finally got around to looking online at some reviews and I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews about drive failures. I know that typically people who have problems post reviews and those that don't have problems usually move on with their lives. So I wanted to ask people on here what their thoughts are on this drive.

I will be using it with a Vaio running XP SP2 to store video files from my camcorder (records in HD so I need the space) and to store photos. Thanks for your input.

So I have a 720p .mkv video I want to convert to .mp4 I can play on my PS3 or through Quicktime. I ran it through Handbrake, and the video works just fine, but the audio is very choppy. I just used the default settings they have for PS3, so would this just be a setting I need to tweak? Thanks!

The file in question is episode 1 of the new season of Top Gear... would be nice to watch it on my TV instead of my computer!

I can't seem to find a way to correct this. Does anyone know a solution as I want all images to load when I click on the message. Thanks!

I recently bought a gaming notebook and it didn't come with a Blu Ray player and I am considering purchasing one for it. The specs are good enough to play a Blu Ray but obviously I would need the player itself. I was considering converting an internal HD/Blu Ray drive to an external drive but wanted to know if I could just get an internal drive for the notebook. I tried looking online but couldn't find one. Any suggestions?

Quick question for MS Word Gurus

I don't know what happened but I must have accidentally hit a button somewhere which screwed up my document.

Basically, right now, my words are being cut off on the right margin. For example, the word "exception", instead of auto-formatting so that it's on a single line, MS word split it up so that the "E" is on the end of one line, and then "xception" is at the beginning of the next line. It does that for every single word, splitting the word after a certain number of characters before it hits the right margin.

I'm sure there's a simple fix, but it's taking me forever to find it. I'm using 2003 MS Word by the way.

Thanks a lot, guys.

My wife is looking for a new phone. Here are the features she wants:

1. Phone service, of course.
2. Flash-enabled web access (she likes to play some of the Facebook games)
3. She wants it to have an alarm clock, preferably one where she can set one time for weekdays and another for weekends.
4. She wants a dictionary.
5. She wants to be able to play MP3s. We've got everything set up in iTunes, which suggests an iPhone is the way to go ... do other devices have any compatibility issues with Apple's music format?

I will confess that I'm fascinated by the Droid's Google Maps capabilities, so there's a part of me that wants her to get a Droid. But the reality is that we probably only use GPS once or twice a year, so it's not that big a deal.

Another factor -- she's currently a Verizon customer, so Droid means we don't have to deal with the hassle of switching providers.
So what's the right phone for her?

Question for the experts about RAID 1/5

_A hypothetical situation_

I've got two small, consumer-level storage devices. One is RAID 1 and the other is RAID 5. They are both made by some small company that went out of business a long time ago and doesn't exist anymore.

A power surge kills both devices *but the hard drives themselves are fine.*

I assume with the RAID 1 device I can just take one or both drives and put them in another RAID 1 device as long as the new device can read the same file format NTFS, FAT32, EXT, etc. I could even throw one of the drives in an external hard drive case lying around. This is because there is no parity information involved.

But what about the RAID 5 disks? Can I just take the disks and put them into another RAID 5 device made by another company? I assume I just couldn't take one of the hard drives and throw it in an external hard drive case because a file could be spread across all the disks and I would need data from all the disks. Is the information written on RAID 5 disks can only be seen by that particular storage device itself?

A hypothetical situation

I've got two small, consumer-level storage devices. One is RAID 1 and the other is RAID 5. They are both made by some small company that went out of business a long time ago and doesn't exist anymore.

A power surge kills both devices but the hard drives themselves are fine.

I assume with the RAID 1 device I can just take one or both drives and put them in another RAID 1 device as long as the new device can read the same file format NTFS, FAT32, EXT, etc. I could even throw one of the drives in an external hard drive case lying around. Is the information written on RAID 5 disks can only be seen by that particular storage device itself?

__________________________________________________

The reason I ask is that I have too many external hard drives floating around and I finally need to buy a NAS. This way any computer can access it as well as my Popcorn Hour. When discussing RAID they talk about how the data is safe if one of the drives fails, but they never discuss what happens if the storage device itself fails.
