There isn't much of a market for them outside of auctions on eBay or listings on Craigslist, with the caveat clearly advertised.
Most collectors still want the case unless it happens to be an extremely valuable or rare DVD.

I don't toss the "useless" discs.
The only times I've ever removed a DVD or digital copy disc is to replace it with a store exclusive bonus disc that came in an envelope, like the Best Buy one for Inglorious Bastards or the Target exclusive that came with The Avengers.

I don't suppose you have a list? I could see buying an alternate version of something I already have to make my own special edition.
