Pre-Horror Challenge 13: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 13: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
Awesome work arw6040, I was hoping someone had already done it or would beat me to it. Just being thorough, but maybe we should clean it up a bit to make it easier to scan thru.
Removing descriptive adjectives and maybe doubling up some listings could help. For example, if someone wanted to see if we've done a theme of children, they may not see it under "creepy kids". Remove "creepy" or at least change it to "kids, creepy", and maybe "children, creepy" too.
Lots of similar examples like anything with a "/".
Also, we'll probably eventually need to repeat themes, so we could add the years we did the themes, so as to not repeat them too close together.
I'd be happy to do this at work later this week if people agree. Just think the longer the list gets, the more it'll be hard to keep track unless it's thorough.

Witchcraft (2009, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016)
if that's what you mean? As for the rest feel free to touch up more if others agree.
*Edit - Just realized looking back at post #2 I only put 2009-2016 themes in list I made since that is what was given in there but see Chad mentioned this is 13th challenge coming up so I am missing some years?

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 13: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
I had free time + insomnia (though going to try to sleep soon so may not see replies until later today if I am successful in falling asleep). The spoiler tag contains an alphabetized list of all the past themes we've used in our horror challenge. Pretty sure I got it all (shortened some of the categories not to include the word horror since implied + some grouped together similar subjects, not perfect but thought would try to help) .
Spoiler:
Just last year I made the mistake of suggesting a theme used years ago (that I initially suggested) simply because it had a different name. It made the cut and nobody noticed. This list will definitely help prevent future incidents.
It's now up on post 2, BTW.

I believe we tried to get one going and it didn't produce enough entries.

There appear to be a ton of choices. Here are just the feature films:

Ok good you're welcome glad to be of use. I agree it's nice to have just to be sure when people are referencing for theme ideas etc. I'll work on the themes with their years used format example I used above & post it once done hopefully by later tonight as an extra reference if people would like & then Trevor can adjust it more if people agree. I'm doing most of this on an iPad as don't have access to a computer but I was able to make it work as long as saving consistently so I don't lose my progress lol.

If not a theme night here's a checklist idea:
Slimey, Gooey Horror (Creature Features with slime/goo or evil liquid possibly to include tentacles/Lovecraft)
Ex: Prince of Darkness, Ghostbusters II, The Blob...

Don't forget we're currently halfway there with the subset volunteering. 16/31.
Reserve your spot today if you haven't already. Spaces are going quick ...er than usual.
______________________________________________
Also, I don't know exactly when I'll kickoff theme voting, but it'll be fairly soon. Just wanna make sure that everyone's had a chance to get their theme suggestions in, and time to at least start compiling lists if need be.
This thread wasn't even up yet this time last year, so we're doing good timewise.

I tweaked some things & added the years each theme type was used. Feel free to tweak further if you see any errors or want to polish it up more.

Am I overlooking it, or have we really never had a blaxploitation horror theme?
If not, that needs to be rectified pronto.

I think we discussed doing an animated theme, but it ended up turning into family friendly horror or something along those lines. I'm pretty sure ParaNorman was the selection.

Just saw this now, thanks
On another note saw when scanning through to tally up the years for each theme last night that Jungle theme has been done with Killer Monkeys / Gorillas / Jungle in 2013, Technological Terrors has been used with Killer Robots / Evil Technology back in 2012, and Abandoned Places was used just last challenge so they'd be on returning themes not new.

And I did make one change - combined 'Psychotronic' (2013) and 'Stranger Things -&- Unconventional Movie Monsters' (2016). That's the one I mentioned earlier about accidentally reusing last year.

Alright, just updated it on post 2.
And I did make one change - combined 'Psychotronic' (2013) and 'Stranger Things -&- Unconventional Movie Monsters' (2016). That's the one I mentioned earlier about accidentally reusing last year.
Thanks for the heads up. They're off the list, but can always reappear as returns.

Of course I'll take a subset pick...
Some ideas... and these need some molding..
Groups in the Wrong Place/Wrong time... Thinking like Baskin, Don't Breath or even Night of the demons ... an obvious group of people that is connected go somewhere, and bad things happen. It seems a little to vague... so maybe a little work.
This one most likely would need to be combined with something... but with the popularity of Fued. Horror movies of Bette Davis or Joan Crawford for some reason The Nanny doesnt come up
With the announcement of a new Universal Monsters universe.. Classic Universal monsters

And we're currently at 18/31.
This is all I could find so far...
http://www.imdb.com/list/ls000496364...&genres=horror (17 titles)
Obviously it's incomplete, so we might have to compile the rest ourselves.
That was it.

Here's a feud theme from allmovie. Unless I'm missing a 'select by genre' option, it looks like we'll have to cherry-pick those.

What about a short night. Like just short horror. There are so many on Youtube and Vimeo. Obviously the duration would have to be added up for counting purposes, but already people who do the full checklist watch the films from 1890to 1910 and theyre all shorts. - Could call it Little Slivers.

For the R.I.P list, Adam West was in 7 horror movies: http://www.imdb.com/filmosearch?expl...&genres=Horror
