I am thinking maybe Movies Made Before Me (Pre-1984 films). I have enough for an asian challenge but I feel like I might get a bit bored of that one for the whole month.

Maybe an alphabet challenge? Title that starts with A, then B and ect.

I did that a few years back and it was fun. It allows you a great deal of variety. In fact, I may fall back to that again.

Once again, the fine folks at Hamilton Books are offering to give away some free stuff!

In keeping with the spirit of the Make-Your-Own Challenge, three winners will get to pick their own prizes from HamiltonBook.com.

Thanks GoldenWheels!

HOW TO WIN

On June 1st, three winners will be randomly chosen from the Challenge participants (using Random.org).

Prize selection will be limited to items priced $25 or less.

You must have a US mailing address to receive a prize.

Any unclaimed prize opportunities will be re-gifted on June 4.

I will announce the prizes chosen so we can all be envious and/or amused by the selections.

I always have too many ideas, but have always meant to do this one May. I'll check my past Mays, and if I haven't done this already will probably go for it. Aiming for ten films.

Thanks to GoldenWheels and HamiltonBooks!

I've been debating about my choice for a couple weeks. I'm almost positive I'm going the lighter route and doing a Classic Disney (animated and live action) challenge. I had also thought of doing a challenge where all the movies link, either by actor, director, song artist, topic/plot, etc... But, I'm not sure I have enough time or energy to do that this year.

Love the challenge art, btw!

Wow! I've been looking at the Bill Paxton catalog and there's a LOT of material there! Not so sure I need to expand this theme beyond him at all. There's even a couple series that qualify.

I've been doing some thinking. There are so many new shows I'd like to sample next month, so I'm going back to my original plan of Action Adventure/Documentary/Sports.

Since I'm not really doing the Drive In Challenge that much, I decided to start my Challenge officially with the start of the list thread. I kicked off my Challenge with an episode of Predator Pursuit, on the Sportsman Channel. The hosts were in Mexico in the second part of an episode where they were hunting coyotes.

I've had insomnia tonight, so I thought I'd break out one of my new National Geographic sets. The first disc was an episode of Nature Untamed, that I've seen a couple times before, on Nat Geo Wild, 'Rise Of Black Wolf', about a lone wolf who eventually becomes a pack leader.

When I woke up I began working on my Challenge, since I'm home alone today, and so far I've watched a few nice outdoor shows. I just finished a good episode of Innerloc's Out There, on Wild Television On Demand, in which the host traveled to Wisconsin and bagged a huge whitetail with a bow.

I've been watching outdoor shows this morning, and just finished a particularly good episode of Hired To Hunt, on the Pursuit Channel. The crew was going after Canadian Geese, and it was interesting in that a combination of the moon phase and the weather had the geese acting in unpredictable fashions.

I finally know, I need some diversity right now so Imma do a Golden Globes challenge. Any movie or TV show nominated for a Golden Globe will give me a lot of latitude.

I'll make it official, going the easier route and doing Classic Disney, both animated and live action.

Oh, meant to add, that I just got a tv show that doesn't fit from the library, so starting a bit late. At least it's just a shorter season!

I have decided on doing a Letterboxd Watchlist watching challenge. I use this for stuff I don't own or have in my backlog, but have heard good things about through various places. For the most part they aren't list of shame type stuff that would be covered my the Movies You Should Have Seen ongoing challenge. At present, I have 114 things on there. Since I will have to rely on Netflix discs mostly, I guess I'll set a modest goal of 20 and hope for more.

I'm going with "What about Bob?" where "Bob" is any actor whose name is "Bob." That opens the door for one of my all-time favorite actors, Bob Hope, as well as letting me get in those last few seasons of Newhart. Hmmm... that also includes Billy Bob Thornton... I could watch some Hearts Afire too.

Re: The Eighth Annual May Make-Your-Own Challenge *Discussion Thread* May 1-31, 2017

I started the challenge about 2 weeks ago, so I've already got a decent list going.

I saw some good movies this weekend. Last night was a courtroom comedy double feature with Legal Eagles (1986) and From The Hip (1987). I always enjoyed FTH. I never knew it was written by David E Kelley. But the snappy dialogue and courtroom antics total fit his style.

Today was a buddy cop triple feature with 48 Hrs (1982), Stakeout (1987) and Tango & Cash (1989). I think 48 Hrs actually improved over the years. On the other hand, I liked Stakeout back in the 80's, but wasn't impressed watching it again.

I'm really surprised Tango & Cash isn't more of a cult movie. It's so campy. The non-stop one-liners are hilariously awful. The bad guys are ridiculously over the top. And Stallone's acting is just bizarre.

That surprises me too. I listened to a podcast discussion about the movie, and they did a very funny bit about the contractor who built Jack Palance's lair. "So you want a giant rat maze right here in the middle of the room?"

The show I'm watching is The Librarian. Bob Newhart shows up in season one and in the made for TV movies if you're looking for something fun and cheesy to watch. If you haven't watched them, start with the movies, then the TV show.

I was wondering about that list. I thought maybe it was your to-watch list.

You should go ahead and add the watch dates to it. (It's your challenge, and you set the start and end dates.)
