The following lists are Automatic Safe lists. They are not definitive and there might be exceptions therein, especially concerning Distributors. Generally, the presence of those on the lists in an actual creative capacity (that is, more than just a cameo or bit part. For instance, Bruce Campbell appearing in Spider-Man does not make Spider-Man safe) is enough to make a film safe. Got more? Post them and I'll update the list. Obviously, films not including these participants are safe, too. Update: I added several new names to the actors list. Some of these actors appeared in actual big budget Hollywood fare, but most of their career was in B-Movies, then obviously discard the Big Hollywood movies and just watch the B's (For example, William Shatner. Ignore Star Trek movies but anything else is fair game. Or Patrick Swazye. Ghost is probably not right, but most of his other films were B-Movies).

Well, the wife wants to see T2 this weekend, so we watched Trainspotting. I figure it counts as a stoner film, even if the sequel likely won't. Now finishing the night by finally watching Salo after first attempting it 25 years ago.

Can't remember if B-movie series' and/or Films Noir are usually counted as being trend-following, and exploitative or are generally well-enough regarded as to be 'above' this type of fare..?

Not doing a fancy review list this year but I will try to check in here with some thoughts.
It has grown on me since my initial video store disappointment with the title but overall my 2 year old daughter seems like a bigger fan of CHUD II then I will ever be.
Robert Englund is in this movie?!?!?

I watched Hardcore Henry last night, and it was so ridiculous it seemed like it should qualify for this challenge, but it doesn't meet the RT or Razzy standards I was hoping for, and we don't have a videogamesploitation category. Maybe a wild card....

That was a midnight madness film at TIFF and I think that should automatically qualify. It's an over the top action exploitation pic from every indication I've had. Might even be good for FADsploitation for its first-person-shooter antics. Check over our stuff, it we're safing Jason Statham material, I've got to think this qualifies. It was also kind of a financial bomb.

Yeah, we can consider this Fadsploitation. It's essentially a movie version of the FPS games in vogue right now.

I was browsing the Roku channel store earlier today, and besides some various cult and grindhouse channels, I found out Comet TV is on Roku now as a free channel. The schedule looks like a good assortment of b movie sci fi and horror flicks.

B-movies and Film Noir are grandfathered in. If you actually understand the concept of what they are and don't need confirmation on each movie, then you can still count them. They aren't on the checklist, but you can still put them on your own list. They were the most confusing part of the original challenge for most people so I deemphasized them.
Or, if I watch the big-budget, critically-acclaimed, box office hit The Avengers (and not the Fiennes/Thurman oddity of the same name), can I just wave vaguelly at it riding the coattails of Blade and the X-Men, or do I get weeks of vitriol for bending the rules again?!

When House was popular, I would think this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091223/reference when I'd hear the name. If I was older and a little more Japanese, I might have this popping into my head http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076162/reference

I liked it because I was disappointed with CHUD when it was released. I've also long since learned to judge sequels on their own and not by the original. If I always compared things to the original, I'd always be disappointed. I always looked at CHUD II as just another Return of the Living Dead (unofficial) sequel.
So far I've watched Spider Baby, which I've seen before, and Society. Never saw Society before and I heard about it when it was released but skipped it based on the vague descriptions I saw. Then I recently saw who directed it and since I like his stuff, I ordered it this week.
I did not see that ending coming. If anyone hasn't seen it but likes Re-Animator, Basket Case, and '80s style of horror, just watch it and don't spoil it by looking up what it's about or watching a trailer.
It's not a perfect movie but it was nice to watch something that turned into something I wasn't expecting at all, compared with movies that had similar plot topics. I'd also definitely rent it first instead of a blind buy. I'd say it's worth at least one watch.

What's the word-from-the-top on the BigBudget'B's and superheroes? If, say, Resident Evil is squarely "in" for Ms Jovovich, videogames, usually-poorly-received and FAD, and Underworld is reasonably safe, too, is there a broadstrokes allowance for well-received, non-flop superhero fad films, or are they split into "more-or-less acceptable" (Batman and Robin, Superman IV, Superman Returns, Punisher, Jonah Hex, Catwoman) and "obviously not" (MCU) with another grey area (Batman vs Superman, Suicide Squad, Blade)..?
Or, if I watch the big-budget, critically-acclaimed, box office hit The Avengers (and not the Fiennes/Thurman oddity of the same name), can I just wave vaguelly at it riding the coattails of Blade and the X-Men, or do I get weeks of vitriol for bending the rules again?!

Has any video game film been actually well received? Maybe money-wise, but usually with shitty RT scores, so they are probably safe. Superhero films have been around long enough and are prolific enough that I actually consider them a legitimate genre now rather than just a fad. Years ago, we had Western after Western. This is just the first time in history they've been able to pull the superhero genre off, SFX-wise. So, we might need to take them on case by case basis. Obvious bombs like Batman & Robin and Superman 4 are no brainers. Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad might be just a hair outside the fudge line for inclusion. Plus, they made buttloads of money leaning them away from the fudge. But on the other hand, Suicide Squad had 25% RT while Ghost Rider had 26%. How can you not include Ghost Rider? I've SEEN Suicide Squad, and it IS a mess. Even the one good thing, Margot Robbie's ass, is borderline exploitative, so how can I not allow in Suicide Squad? I actually liked Batman v Superman, but if Suicide Squad gets the benefit of a fudge, then B v S has to get one via the transitive property. Technically the rule is below 20% RT but with some fudge room. Superman 3 has 26% and it seems obvious for fudging, so how do we say B v S's 27% is not worthy of a fudge? I think with the big budget superhero franchises, we have to go with the ones that swung for the fences but whiffed rather than allow in something like Avengers just because it's a superhero movie.

Amazon Prime has If You Don't Stop It, You'll Go Blind which is a little bit like a Flying Circus/Benny Hill skit show combined with 70s Sex Comedy and a lot of over-the-top nudity, going through as many sex jokes as the cast possibly can in an hour and a half. It's obvious and predictable (these are mostly VERY old jokes), but everyone throws themselves into it, and it winds up being weirdly twee and hilarious. There are even two musical numbers - the middle one is actually quite good, and the finale has Uncle Sam fake-tap-dancing and the audience joining in the chorus by saying "f*ck" half a dozen times.
If you haven't seen it, try and watch it. It's... interesting and 'good'!

Started my Challenge off with a live riff of an Ed Wood film, Glen or Glenda, at an Alamo Drafthouse with the Mads. It was pretty amazing. So glad to have finally met two of my favorite performers.

...It's easy to explain why a movie about nurses or cheerleaders is eligible, but I can't explain why there's a difference between a Claudette Colbert and Ann Savage movie. But if you know why we prefer Tom Mix or Gene Autry over John Wayne and John Ford, then by all means watch and count those movies.

B v S was clearly exploiting Civil War, and SS trying to take on Fox and Disney teams, so those might be Faddy even without being inconsistent and poorly (critically) received. And I like Superman III - and think Batman and Robin, seen as a send-up rather than a sequel, is much better than Batman Forever, at least (Which admittedly isn't saying much.) - but it's still fairly objectively bad. I had completely forgotten Ghost Rider existed. And I've never seen either. Hm.

I woke up in the middle of the night, and felt like working on the Challenge. Was in the mood for some Three Stooges, so brought out Volume 3, and just finished 'You Nazty Spy'. It was easy to see what they were spoofing in that one, Hitler and the Nazis.

Watched a Tomas Milian picture this morning, The Cop in Blue Jeans. Literally pulled it from a random Mill Creek set. RIP to the man, he was an entertaining chap. Side of ham and sleaze added by Jack Palance.
I'll probably squeeze something else in before supper at Razzy's Rodhouse (BURGER LOVE is a month long celebration here that coincides with the challenge. 84 delicious burgers to pick from locations across the province) and then WRESTLEMANIA tonight. I've used that as a wild card before, as it's just perfect for the challenge in a way. I also see it at a cinema on the big screen which turns it into an even cooler event. Add junk food and you've got your own tailgate party. Looking forward to the rest of an already great Sunday!

Once more about the superhero films and fadsploitation. Fadsploitation is not about movie trends/fads, it's about movies based upon pop culture fads. Like Found footage Horror might be a fad, but it's not Fadsploitation. We're talking about things like a few years ago when we had 2 Lambada movies, or the Disco movies of the late 70s early 80s, or the Leif Garrett movie Skateboard, and so on. I'd even consider 50 Shades of Gray as Fadsploitation, since it was such a pop culture female wank phenomenon. Harry Potter was also a bigger than books phenomenon, too, but I don't count it since it's just a fantasy story. 50 Shades is intrinsically exploitative as a subject.
