Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc. There are glitches where sometimes an excluded item will be allowed but assume that is the exception to the rule
Free Shipping is $25 (before tax/shipping) or with membership.
Max 3 GC on a single online order.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order
Return period is 14 days after delivery (possibly 30 days for members though I've never tried)
Online ordered items can returned to a local store unless it's classified as a web-only item then it's at the store's discretion to accept
The long standing Free 60 day Trial Offer was discontinued in late May 2016

I tried that a few times, but the whole copy-paste to keep my formatting going I just find too difficult on a phone. Of course my phone is a few years old.

Just for the record I am in the 40 and older age group. I of course was trying to be funny based on my own annoyances of tech trends, but in all seriousness I do prefer using desktop mainly because I can't figure out an easy way to update my list using anything else. And really with my herniated discs and recent knee surgery sitting proper posture a couple times a day feels good.

I'm in the 60 and older age group - but I also help administer a 8000+ user Windows domain as well as maintain our virtual server farm (a mix of vSphere and Hyper-V). We also support over 2000 crApple products - iPads, and Macbooks (Pro and Air) as well as hundred or so Chromebooks. I have a work issued iPad, Mac Air (with a Windows VM so I can actually use it for real work), and Chromebook (which I'm using right now because I can use it in my comfy chair and see the TV better). I much prefer my desktops (both work and home) as the keyboards are more responsive and better suited for touch typing. These flat, overly-wide-spaced, laptop keyboards are horrible and touchpads aren't much better (my wife hates 'em and has a mouse on hers with the touchpad disabled). As soon as I get my den re-situated for the new TV and cabinet I'll likely move back to the desktop as I can see the TV easily from that location and the chair at the computer desk is comfortable.

I find the millennial group is actually rather lacking in true computer skills. They're great with phones/phablets (devices I find more annoying than useful) and texting (what happened to *talking* to people?) but put them at a real computer and they're often lost. But in all fairness, so are many people my age.

I just finished Red Riding Hood (2011). While it's not the train-wreck I was expecting it's another modern fairy tale/fable based film that can't seem to decide just what it wants to be. The wolf being a werewolf didn't bother me as I've *always* thought that's what the wolf in the fairy tale actually is. But just *where* did they get the idea for the werewolf hunter to come in dragging a metal elephant?!? And *how* does that fit in the story of Little Red Riding Hood? Yeah... the film makers apparently don't know either... The score isn't bad, the few sets look nice, and the CGI is pretty good. Too bad they didn't have a real story to go with all that.

I stick to desktops too. Editing on a tiny screen isn't easy, especially with all the scrolling and formatting.

Had an awesome time today with this little indie slasher for tonight's Christmas Horror theme. Sort of combines the old "Tales From the Crypt" segment And All Through the House... with aspects of the most salacious eighties slashers including Sleepaway Camp. It's got boobies and practical makeup effects which made it all the more enjoyable. Anyone else watch this today? I'm also curious as to what folks used for this theme.

1980s desert island films are, I think:
Return of the Living Dead
Santa Sangre
The Fly

I'll need to check out All Through the House. Looks like my kind of movie.

I also watched a slasher for today's theme but didn't like it all that much. I recorded a movie a while back called To All a Good Night. I thought this would be a good opportunity to finally get it off the DVR. There were a couple of good moments, but I thought it was pretty weak overall. The one notable thing about it is the director. I thought the name sounded familiar when I saw the credits. I looked him up and realized that I know David Hess much better as the lead villain in The Last House on the Left. Never knew he directed a movie!

For today's theme I watched a real crapfest, Elves. Bad effects, stupid plot, just a real POS.

Wow. The amount of films I've watched from "IFC Midnight" and "Blumhouse" (and Blumhouse Tilt, produced by Jason Blum, etc) is, well, I've lost count. Those two are really pumping out the genre offerings ...for better or worse.

Yeah. I'm hoping a message to the Vestron Video Facebook page will help me out because Deep Discount's customer service is typically hell to deal with in a situation like this.

With Halloween III being panned when it first came out (why did they show Halloween on TV anyways?) and now it is a cult hit, one has to wonder if Zombie's Halloween will be looked at differently in 30 years and liked by many...

Because in those earlier years of HBO and cable, almost all popular movies wound up being shown on TV. Even if they were shown on HBO they'd make their way to broadcast TV at some point. Many people liked that as R rated films were "cleaned up" for TV broadcast. That allowed them to see those films in a more acceptable version. Even if it hadn't been picked up by a major network it'd have been edited for late night Horror Host type programs who were always looking for new offerings.

I've finally taken the plunge and started watching The Walking Dead on Netflix. I've seen the first 3 episodes this month, and while so far it seems nothing too special, friends recommend I stick with it as they say the show does get better, and the characters become likable.

Buy the comic compendiums. The show is good but the comics are way better.

I loved the second season and thought the third season was just okay. Most people were the exact opposite so I think everyone enjoys the show for different things. I started the fourth or fifth season but never finished them. I need to start back. What season are they on now? Someone told me the opener for the current one pissed a lot of people off.

House Of Dark Shadows - I enjoyed this but I am not sure if me being around 325 episodes into the series for the first time clouded my judgement. The story didn;t really seem like anything special but it was fun seeing a lot of the characters from the show with higher production values. It was also interesting seeing people playing different characters of themselves or acting slightly differently from their counterpoints on the show.

Queen Of The Damned - I thought this was horrible. Lestat as a rock star vampire. I have never read the books but is this part of them? It came across as silly and the exact opposite of Interview With A Vampire. But dammit, the filmmakers took the movie very seriously which added to its woes. Could this be a cult classic in another 20 years since it is so bad?

Big Tits Zombie - Unfortunately the title is the best part about this movie. I should have know better but took a chance anyway. Hardly any tits either unless you count covered tits (I don't). The most interesting thing about the DVD is that you can watch it with the English subtitles but listen with the English dub. The English dub is more along the lines of a Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode (making fun of the situation, adding weird dialogue, strange sounds added, etc.) while the English subtitles appear to be the true translation of what the Japanese dialogue is. Two entirely different aspects make it a little more interesting. Oh yeah...and also a fire breathing vagina.

I'm going to start it as well in the very near future. Once I get October out of the way, we're going to finish up The Sopranos then move on to The Walking Dead. Yes, I'm really behind the times.

Many many many years ago Buy.com had a steal on the first compendium and I ended up getting it and working my way through about half (several individual volumes). This was before the series was picked up by AMC. It was a really gripping series, and I've heard it diverges a bit.

I started watching Bait (2012) last night but the late nights have finally caught up with me and had to go to bed early. I'm pretty excited to finish this one today as it's moving along pretty well. I had caught snippets of this one on SyFy over the years, but never knew the name.

For today's theme movie, I watched an anime. Nothing I owned really jumped out at me, so when I saw Lady Death, on the linked list, I jumped at it. I remembered it was on Amazon Prime, as I had thought about watching it for the animation challenge, but never got around to watching it. I really enjoyed it, and if someone is looking for a horror anime, I can highly recommend it.

Elves is pretty awful but I would like a Blu or even a DVD release. Grizzly Adams fighting dick stabbing nazi elves deserves a proper release!

I went with The Omen IV because it was one of those DVDs I haven't watched yet but I'm pretty sure I caught it on TCM a decade ago. I blinked towards the end and didn't catch the newspaper clippings the mom read that made her understand the evil global plot of the devil all of the sudden, at the very end of the movie but I guess they had to figure out some way to be able to start working out the ending in the last few minutes.
