How much time do you folks think I should give for the voting? I was thinking a couple days (say over the weekend), but maybe three days (Saturday - Monday) would be better. I could add up the votes early Tuesday and add in my picks and send the list to GoldenWheels sometime Tuesday, and probably report all the prizes by Thursday or so (after he confirms our picks are in stock and gets copies of them).
The weekend sounds good to me.

The weekend will probably be enough, so we'll go with that. There's still time for someone who hasn't picked a possible prize to do so. You have until tonight if you want to get involved in the nomination process.

Thanks! Nice to see a couple of Blu-rays in your selection. There were a couple of inexpensive items in there that I was tempted to bundle as a prize pack, but I decided to leave them separate.

Okay, since the nomination process is close to the end, let's talk about voting. Votes will be accepted all day Saturday and Sunday, 10/17-10/18, (until midnight on the East coast). Voting is open to everyone, not just people who nominated prize candidates.

Please select four prizes from the list (using whatever criteria you like), make a list of their assigned numbers, and send that list of numbers to me via PM.

I'll add up the votes on Monday. The winning prizes, along with my two picks will be announced at some point after that.

I'll still take a prize suggestion up until midnight tonight if someone new wants to get involved.

I would've suggested going through Monday since some people don't visit the forum over the weekend.

I thought about that, too, but in the end, I have a hard time believing they won't be updating their OHMC lists at all over the weekend, so they can jump in on this if they want to.

You are voting for two of the prizes to be awarded at the end of the Comedy Challenge.

Okay folks, if you haven't voted yet, you now have just shy of 24 hours to do so. We have two items tied in the lead, but it's still a very tight race.

Thanks to everyone who has voted so far.

Don't be so sure. I will say the votes received since my last post have given us a 4-way tie for first, so I''ll either use random.org to rank them, or we could have a runoff election. EDIT: Well that's changed thanks to the latest votes in the inbox. Maybe I won't need random.org after all.

Voting is still open. There are still a couple of people who nominated prizes who haven't voted yet.

If you want to have some say on the prize selection for the Challenge, PM me your votes by midnight Eastern tonight.

Re: The Fifth Annual November Comedy Challenge *Discussion Thread* Nov 1-30, 2015

Voting is now closed.

We have two clear winners. They both appear to be in stock on the website at this time. I'll send the titles, along with my two picks, to GoldenWheels later this morning. In the past, he's gathered up the prizes within a day or so of me telling him which ones I picked, so soon after he confirms they're in stock, I'll announce all the prizes.

A big thanks to everyone who helped out with the selections and the voting. As a small reward and a sign of my appreciation for your help, each person who nominated prizes and/or voted will receive one additional entry in whichever of the four prize drawings he/she is eligible for.

I'm already preparing for the challenge with new purchases. Last night my sister gave me a belated birthday present of a Wal-Mart gift card. I just used it to buy Volumes 1 and 2 of The Little Rascals. Total of 20 shorts, and 420 minutes of viewing time between the two sets.

Re: The Fifth Annual November Comedy Challenge *Discussion Thread* Nov 1-30, 2015

The prizes have been picked and pulled. Here's what we have lined up:

The 2 winners of the crowdsourcing experiment:

100 Greatest Comedy Classics - 24 DVDs, Mill Creek

The Three Stooges: Triple Feature - Blu-ray, Mill Creek

And the two prizes I picked:

The Beatles: A Hard Day's Night - DVD, Criterion

Triple Feature: The Awful Truth / Born Yesterday / His Girl Friday - 3 DVDs, Sony

GoldenWheels told me that he may have some additional comedy stuff to throw our way. So we could have more stuff for the four winners, or more than 4 winners in the end.

HOW TO WIN
Winners will be chosen at random (using Random.org) from a list of active participants (two winners will be chosen from all active participants, and two from all active participants who haven't won during a previous Comedy Challenge). Each person who nominated prizes and/or voted for the prize selection will receive one additional entry in each of the prize drawings for which he or she is eligible.

You must have a U.S. address to receive a prize.

Thanks again, GoldenWheels and

Is anyone interested in theme nights or a checklist? If so, I'm open to suggestions for both. Or I can try to dig up the old one.

I probably won't be doing anything for theme nights or a checklist. Also, some great prizes you got lined up.

Theme nights are fun. I vote for those. We could probably just repeat last year's themes. Maybe shake-up a few days.
