A-ha! It is great... I'm looking forward to the end of the month for that reason alone!

The Innocents was a big hit with my movie group tonight. More than anything, everyone was so taken aback at the photography. I'm really happy that I revisited that movie. I'm thinking of showing Repulsion for next week's black and white night. It even fits the theme.

The other film is Freeheld.

I'll see if I can get a copy of Gay Bed & Breakfast of Terror. With a title like that, how can you go wrong?

Thanks. And for everyone who wants to know, she should be home today. Not sure how much horror I'll get in though, as since she went in last night, the wind had kinda went out of my sails.

I watched this for the challenge a couple years ago and enjoyed it way more than I would usually like to admit.

I just watched Snow Beast (1977) for today's theme. It also has Bo Svenson AND Clint Walker, so it's gotta count for legends too!

I watched The Boogens and You'll Like My Mother for today's theme. I thought The Boogens was a bit light on action, though I quite liked the characters and the relationship between Trish and Mark which was way better than it needed to be. You'll Like My Mother was ok, but there was no real chemistry between the characters or tension. It felt a bit like Fanatic, just not very interesting or intense.

What did everyone think of Creep (2014)?

Sacrificed some much needed sleep to give it a watch last night, to stay kind of on-track for my 31 films goal.

I watched Tremors 2 last night and started Tremors 3 in anticipation of catching Tremors 5 on Netflix later this week. I know they aren't good at this point, but I still find so much of it fun and I love Burt Gummer's character as the series progressed. I do wish they could have kept Fred Ward for the third movie and the series instead of him doing 10.5, but oh well.

Something Weird Video is doing a kickstarter to preserve movies. I kicked in $50 and went with the film canister reward.

I can understand that feeling with some of my father's cancer-related hospitalizations. Hope all is as well as can be! Horror will always be there, your mother only so long (in the flesh at least).

I hit my first plateau yesterday. I was doing pretty good after the subset, then watched Tenebre for the first time (excellent!). And then I started Jack and Diane which is listed as Horror on IMDb. Well not even 15 minutes in I could tell this was a lesbian coming-of-age film that was going to use the monster/werewolf premise as an allegory to awakening womanhood, emotions, lust, and what-not. I'm all for a coming-of-age flic, but I could not in good conscience watch all of this film and count it on my list. So this was my first watch abandoned. Just TV watching the rest of the night. Now I feel like I have a hang-over.

For today's theme I watched Devil's Pass on Netflix. It's another Blair Witch-inspired found footage flick about a team of college students who travel to Russia to film a documentary on the Dyatlov Pass Incident. I was surprised to find that it was directed by Renny Harlin, who filmed it in his native Finland. The movie starts out as horror, takes a left-turn to sci-fi, then heads back to horror. I really enjoyed its imaginative blend of Lovecraftian primordial evil with mad science. Definitely one of my favorite FTVs.

With watching Calling all Police Cars (in italian) I Just finished the bare minimum to complete the checklist. Now to complete it 100% and then attempt to complete it with no doubles.

Wow, even with doubles that is amazingly fast. This challenge never ceases to make me feel like I am such a slowpoke when it comes to watching horror movies. Good job.

Select comments:

The Invisible Man's maniacal cackling: "So this is more funny than scary..?"
The Black Cat (1934): "Why wasn't the cat in it more?"
The Bride of Frankenstein: "Looks like the lady from the Invisible Man has come into this movie."

My last three theme night selections have been whittled down to just one film after temporarily misplacing some discs and my Panasonic player refusing to play Region B titles, or any Blu-rays for that matter. DVDs it has no problem with. I ordered a lens cleaner and hope it is just a dust problem.

I remember doing a double feature with Big Tits Zombie. Gotta love the Japanese.

It's movies like this I can forgive excruciatingly bad CG.

..that was my hope, also..! It's on Amazon Prime if you have that, and I'd be really interested in a second opinion on whether it can be seen to be 'sending up' stereotypes or... just falling prey to them.

My mom is home and doing fine now. So, I revisited an old favorite for today's theme, Trollhunter, on Netflix.

I think Cold Prey is a modern classic, it has some flaws but it a tense and atmospheric film with better than average character development.

Creep was really disappointing in my opinion - most of the "creepiness" is in over the top social awkwardness making it feel more like a dark comedy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but the character just seemed too off too soon that there wasn't enough 'build up.' I loved the ending (even if it defied logic) but it sure was mis-paced getting there. It was cool to see Creep have a unique plot structure and some more experimental story structure.
