I'd been putting Wolf Creek off because I'd heard complaints about it but I thought it was good, despite any flaws. I liked it enough for it to go back on my shelf instead of finding a new home in my "to sell" pile. I think the first part could have been reworked some. I know it was to introduce us to the characters but it didn't fit in with the rest of the movie for me.

It took me three attempts to get thru the first 20 minutes of The Fly but im glad I stuck with it. really enjoyed the second half curious to know if the seq is worth a watch??

No. Not at all. Watch the original 1958 film with David Hedison and Vincent Price instead. Well... OK... watch The Fly II for the special effects but don't expect much of a story and don't expect it to be a film you'll want to watch again at some point.

I was very hesitant to see this film as I love Let the right one in...but really enjoyed it so theres my pick!

You need to watch some older stuff lrend so it's Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Torn Curtain was OK, but *just* OK. I think I was expecting more from a Hitchcock film but really don't know why as a few of his more highly rated works I've seen I just didn't understand *why* they were considered to be so great. I'd consider Torn Curtain to be the least of Hitchcock's films I've seen. It *looked* like it was filmed on a back lot and had far too much mediocre rear screen material. Newman had a fairly good performance but nothing great. Andrews' performance seemed mostly phoned in. It really felt more like a romance film than a spy/thriller. The best scene was when he and the woman at the farm killed the spy. The rest was pretty blah.
I couldn't wait for someone to pick OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies and watched it a few days back. I really enjoyed it - so much so that as soon as I took it out of the player I ordered the sequel. I liked the goofy charm, and constant smile, Jean Dujardin brought to the main character. It's funny, frequently politically incorrect, sometimes rude, and a very good spy spoof. Kind of a cross between Bond and Clouseau. It played more like a product of the years it was spoofing, ~1955, rather than one of the 2000s.

I finally managed to watch Eraserhead tonight. I can't say I really liked it, but I was fascinated by it, especially the visuals. It is one I definitely want to watch a second time.

There were a lot of good choices on your list but I kind of feel this is one of those "must see once" films. The effort James Cameron went through in making this film and the sheer revenue it pulled in make it a must watch. Plus on a more sad and personal note I'll never forget coming out the theater with my sister to learn that my former 9th grade english teacher had passed away. So it holds a special place for me. Hope it's at least tolerable for you!

I put off Let Me In since I figured it was going to be a lame remake but it was really good. Glad my wife bought it used from Blockbuster, which should show how long that's been sitting on my shelf.

You are so right! I've yet to view a "bad" Jackie Chan film, and I've seen quite a lot of them. I really like his earlier works and wish they'd all get good transfers in OAR and Language.
Police Story 2 is another good Jackie Chan film. Lots of action with excellent fighting scenes. I enjoyed how it opened with a "Reader's Digest" showing of Police Story (with Jackie singing the theme no less!).

I haven't seen any of the movies on your list but let's go with Moulin Rouge.
I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's and I enjoyed it but at times Holly Golightly got on my nerves. I felt like she was an airhead, which I'm sure is how they wanted her to be perceived, even though she actually had a sad history.

my niece came over and couldnt talk her into watching chinatown as she finds Jack very creepy but I did watch the next unwatched movie I was gonna put on my list in UHF. so surprised I never watched this when i was younger

I watched Rain Man and all I can say is why did I not watch this earlier? I thoroughly enjoyed the performances of Cruise and Hoffman and the progression of Cruise's character from the beginning to the end was phenomenal. I will definitely watch again!

I'm a huge fan of the works of Philip K. Dick whose "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" is the basis for Blade Runner. It's also a very good film. Out of curiousity, which version do you have?
I really enjoyed Moulin Rouge (1952). I picked this one up several years ago at BL and have just held off viewing it. I shouldn't have. It's a fairly good biopic of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Like all such films it differs a bit from reported events but not enough to be a issue. It was interesting how they pulled off the stunted legs of Henri. Essentially you never saw him walking up close, only at a distance, which allowed the costume to hide the fact a normal man was walking along. I was surprised to find José Ferrer played both Henri *and* his father, Count Alphonse de Toulouse-Lautrec. While that didn't work as well as I think the film makers wanted, it was passable enough since Alphonse had little screen time. I was also surprised to see Peter Cushing in a minor role as well as Zsa Zsa Gabor (I'd not really looked closely at the sleve) in a somewhat major role.

The best part of Frankenstein was the special effects of the monster coming together. It reminded me of Frank coming together in Hellraiser, yet Frankenstein was released in 1910. I'd even make an animated gif of it if I had any clue as to how to make one, and any inspiration to look up how to do it.

We watched Girl Shy. It was highly entertaining. The movie concluded with an outrageous chase scene, where he steals a car from a bootlegger, a motorcycle from a cop, a team of horses from a construction crew, and saves the girl from being married to a villain at the laaaaaaaaaaast moment.

Enjoy this movie will eventually make it on my list.
Chinatown im glad to have gotten to its been in my unwatched pile for over a year when i bought it after hearing about it. this was a perfect role for jack not over the top of a personality with a solid story.
