I've made an unofficial, personal renaming of the challenge. For me, it's 100 hours instead of 100 movies. Now I won't feel penalized for getting the same one credit from watching a 90 minute trailer compilation that I would from watching the 3 hour 40 minute one I'm watching now.
It still averages out to 67, 90 minute films, so it's still a decent challenge but now there's no bonus from marathoning short films and not hurting success with the original goal by watching longer films.
Back on topic, anyone else watch Bad Dreams? It's basically Nightmare on Elm Street 3 but there's no Freddy and the junkie girl reprises her role but this time is the star of the show. Yes, it's the same actress doing the same thing again.

Because of all you who were mentioning how good Bava's The Whip and the Body is I finally opened the copy I picked up a while back (2 years or more IIRC). WOW! I shouldn't have waited so long to open and watch this! It's very well crafted. I was very impressed with the lighting, sets, photography, directing, and more. The various brief descriptions/synopsis don't do it justice. While there *is* a fair amount of sadomasochistic behavior on hand it's not as egregious as I'd been expecting, which is why I'd put off the viewing so long. It's easily among my favorite Bava films.

I just found out the original script for Nightmare on Elm Street 3 was supposed to be dark and scary. The novelization for it is supposed to be based off that and from what I've seen, it's supposed to be a good read.

I am not a fan of "rape" films but I have to admit that the recent I Spit On Your Grave 2 (2013) is pretty darn good. The girl in the movie gives a fearless performance and the first half is pretty tough to watch. But how did
That was my only major problem with the film.
Spoiler:
I always get plenty of sleep during the challenge, even when I watched 300 films a few years ago! I was on a strict 'after 2am'-9am sleep schedule during that one, though I'm sleeping 7-8 hours a night at the moment (going to bed and waking up at my leisure). I don't do well on lack of sleep, so it's more important than a film

Okay, I'll revert back to seriousness and ask the hard-hitting question: when are we getting a remake of Circus of Horrors (1960) with Christoph Waltz as the demented plastic surgeon? Come on, Hollywood! I would watch the hell out of that movie!

In 1967 after taking LSD (acid), he set himself on fire in Central Park behind the Metropolitan Museum of Art near Cleopatra's Needle. After recuperation, he bravely and candidly spoke about it in an anti-drug documentary. He since made use of his scarred face to play sinister-looking characters in horror films.

I was at Wal*Mart today and saw the DVD. I was intrigued by the people in it, but for the price, I had to walk away. Actually saw some films from the people who did The Purge and I guess Paranormal Activity or something like that. Wanted to pick it up as it had a $3 coupon when buying Purge 2, but F you Wal*Mart, overcharging for The Purge 2.
How did you hit 300? I love horror films, but I also like making money and going out here and there lol. No way would I ever have time for 300 movies in one month. Not to mention the f'd up dreams I would have.

300 has been hit a few times here in the past. I was (and remain) skeptical about anyone making such claims, but that is a can of worms I don't particularly care to open.

I watched The Battery, and it's stuck with me. At first I really didn't like it, but then it dawned on me that this would really be how the zombie apocalypse would go down; wandering on the road, surviving day by day, boredom punctuated by moments of terror. And I loved the soundtrack. I've just acquired some new bands to follow. The masturbation scene really got me; it's funny and yet deeply sad, being so cutoff from any erotic outlet that you have to get off to a dead woman's body..

I liked the soundtrack but the only song that really grabbed me was Anthem For the Already Defeated - such a great song. Even ended up in my top 5 most listened to tracks in the last 12 months I really need to check out more of the soundtrack... but I'm really lazy.

Tonight I was bored and thought I'd watch something wild before bed. So I watched Mother of Tears. It's an insane movie and really outrageous and entertaining and pulls no punches when it comes to violence. I saw the R rated version however, but it was still quite graphic and is easily one of the more violent Argento films out there.
I think it's one of Argento's better later period films, since just about everything he's done since Opera has been lousy. So I was surprised how much I enjoyed the movie.

What double feature is everyone going with for today's theme? I pulled out one of the 50 movie mill creek packs (Pure Terror) and it had both Vampire's Night Orgy and Devil's Nightmare so I went with that one.

I just finished watching Messiah of Evil, which is the find of the challenge for me. Brilliant and very scary flick from 1973. Maybe one of the ten best horror movies I've ever seen. Reminded me a little bit of Let's Scare Jessica to Death.

It's tough stuff, no question, but I thought the remake was more palatable to modern audiences than the original. I'm not sure if I ever saw the sequel.

I went with The Incredible Melting Man (1977) / Squirm (1976) so I could have a double showing of MST3K. It was also one of the few doubles listed where I hadn't seen either of them.

You're the 3rd or fourth person I've seen around this month praising it. I think Mother Of Tears is starting to get to that point that Halloween 3 took decades to get to where people can stop judging it for what it isn't and enjoy it for what it is. I always found MOT to be a gory good time but it was also almost universally hated upon release because it wasn't Suspiria or Inferno. Now that it is 6 or 7 years old I think it is slowly getting a bit more of the praise it deserves as folks are giving it another chance and knowing what not to expect.

I watched the "Unrated" version of Mother of Tears a few days ago - first time viewing - and enjoyed it. BUT I've also never seen Suspiria or Inferno and had only heard about the film because the "Unrated" version was at BL some time back and got lots of chatter in the BL Bargains thread. I looked at it several trips before deciding "Why not?" for $3 and picked up a copy to hold for the challenge. It turns out to be one of the better $3 Blind Buys of horror I've made. Oddly, I didn't find it as violent as some of the reviews/comments I've seen make it out to be. But that could be simply because I've now seen a few Rob Zombie movies which were some of the most violent films I've *ever* seen.

I've been looking through archives of old drive-in newspaper ads, trying to find a genuine line-up from back in the day. My criterion was that they had to be first-time views. I'm going with this double feature that played at the Cactus Drive-in in Tucson, AZ, on October 30, 1970. I already have concession stand ads and coming attractions DL'd that I'm going to play before and between the features.
