SLIDERS is finally completing its DVD run. Season 5 Jan 2012

Sliders season sets have taken several years to be released per season, and the final season will finally hit stores next year:

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced - at long last! - that Sliders - Season 5 is coming to DVD. The most recent release was in 2008, and fans have waited (im)patiently since then for the final season of the show to come home. It will finally slide into stores on January 17th, a 4-disc set priced at $34.98 SRP. Video is 1.33:1 full frame, audio is English stereo, and English subtitles are on board as well.

Personally I wouldn't touch it, but it's good news for completists. I stuck with season 1 / 2 and season 3.

To me the series was complete with the initial seasons 1/2 box set. But it's nice to see Universal eventually following through with low seeling series...

Not interested in buying, after Jerry O'Connell left, the show was not the same and is dead to me

The show went rapidly downhill after S2 and the move from Vancouver to LA--particularly the quality of the writing, which had been interesting and intelligent sf in S1 and S2. I own S3, but it's not all that good, especially after Rhys-Davies left. (He knew when to get off a sinking ship.) S4-5 I have zero interest in. But of course completists will want S5.

I had given up on a U.S. release of this a long time ago and imported the German one a few months ago. Figures.

Well, the series ends on a cliffhanger, so there's really even less of a point to be a completist.

Feels like I have been waiting for fucking ever for this. Also no Jerry O'Connell, no problem, ever since season 2 it's been all about Kari Wuhrer anyways.

Now if they can get First Wave, Invisible Man season 2, Freakylinks & GvsE off then we are talking. At least make them burn on demand.

I've been watching this series on Netflix. Seasons 1 and 2 were really good, Season 3 (which I'm in them middle of) is getting pretty goofy. The Christmas episode, and the Tremors knock-off in particular were pretty goofy. Right now I'm on "Exodus".

Season 3 was fun, especially when they just start ripping off movies and it's a good 5 episodes or so, it is completely ridiculous but fun.

Season 1 & 2 were real good. 3 was ok, the fugitive hunt is on. 4 & 5, not so good.

Two of my favorite episodes are in season 4 but otherwise that season is a mess. I like to pretend that season 5 didn't happen though I'm glad it's being released for the sake of the completest among us.

I only saw various episodes, mostly from the early seasons but I did catch a few with cast changes. I'd love to start getting them but the price is still a little too high for me, considering it wasn't something I watched regularly.

Same here. I found the S1/2 boxset for $5 or so way back when, but have never seen the other sets in my price range.

Rather than bring up a REALLY old thread, ...

Does Seasons 1/2 still come in that big foam box, or have they repackaged it into something slimmer finally?

They repackaged it not long afterward, after so many complaints about the foam sticking to the playing surface of the discs (mine had that problem).

Really? I've seen only the foams sets, even as recently as a year or 2 ago at Walmart.

Anyone have a pic of the new packaging?

Old question, but...

The repackaging consists of two separate sets, one for each season:
