Almost didn't include myself, as my list was 83% trailers. I feel guilty "winning" my own Challenge. I just got on a roll with them one weekend, and went trailer DVD/youtube compilation crazy.
Really watched 517 mostly trailers (and actually 86 more because I forgot many I repeated with commentary track), but that number was too obscene to put in bold.

I saw all the trailers in Giles list and that inspired me, so blame him if you don't like my list.

Wow, had never seen Die Hard 2!
I love that you included the genres in your list. If I think of it and most people agree, maybe we can all do that next year and I'll have genre stats.

How you stopped at 98 and didn't squeeze in two more shorts or trailers is beyond me. I almost gave you two of mine to put you at the century mark.

When I grow up, I want to be Ash Ketchum. Not only does he have a cool name that makes me think of Alien and french fries, two of my favorite things, but he makes beautiful lists and is extremely knowledgeable on film.
Ash was the runaway winner of our best list contest, with a nearly unanimous victory.

Prizes pending as you all find errors in my tabulations.

Ash definitely wins the grand prize for his win in the Best List vote.

But since checklist finishers get an extra entry in the random prize drawing, I'll give you all a few days to find my mistakes in that area. Pretty sure it was only BobO'Link, coyoteblue, & orlmac that completed it, but speak up if I messed up please.

Re: 2012 Action/Adventure/Crime/Mystery Challenge Results and Feedback

Trevor, great job on the results. This is really my favorite part of any challenge so thanks for all the time you put into this. And since you asked about Wonder Con but it is totally off topic I give you:

Spoiler:
Usually in the San Francisco area, Wonder Con was held in Anaheim, CA this year because of renovations going on at its usual venue. Although I'm a long time San Diego Comic Con goer (well over 30 years in a row) this was my first Wonder Con but since it was going to be so close I had to go and I had a great time. Although put on by the same organization that does the San Diego con WC was much more relaxed than SD has been in at least a decade. (In case you're not familiar with it, Comic Con International, which I still call the San Diego Comic Con, has become a monster, selling out months in advance each year and getting over 125,000 attendees.)

I spent most of the three days wandering around the nicely sized dealers room shopping for old comics and chatting with some of the Wonder Con regulars. One of the real highlights for me was getting to meet some genuine horrors hosts. In particular John Stanley who used to host Creature Features in the Bay area and current horror host Mr. Lobo based in Sacramento but with a show syndicated around the country. Although regular WC guests, they've never attended San Diego as a group so this was a rare treat. I spent at least two hours talking with these folks and of course bought some books and DVDs (see semi relevant!) some of which I hope to watch during the SF and Horror challenges. Mr. Lobo was particularly interesting to talk to since his love of the horror genre and the idea of horror hosts was very apparent. Elvira also attended but there was such a crowd around her table I decided to try again the next day. The same ws true of John Saxon. But neither one was there on Sunday so I should have been more patient. I also attended a panel featuring Joe Ruby and Ken Spears who were responsible for a whole bunch of Saturday morning animated shows including Scooby-Doo.

As I said I had a great time and spent too much on old comics and reprints of old comics. I'm even considering checking out Wonder Con on its own turf sometime. It was that much fun.

You did a great job on the results! This won't change much in the numbers but all 91 of my shows were first-time views (I should have said more in my list but I did * all of my shows). It would really boost our over-all percent of first-time views.

as someone said the results thread are always the best part of the challenge and you did a great job.

sadly my laptop crapped out in the begining of the month and caused me to neglect this challenge and the exploitation challenge but back on finally with a new computer to get back on the challenges

and my screenname was created as its my name terry and me and some friend in highschool were big into karate and watching old school kung fu movies and one night while drinking we gave each other awesome kung fu nicknames....and ever since iv been called terrycloth.

Thanks again Trevor! Very nice clone of Chad's results posts! That amount of work always makes for a fun read!

I'm *totally* amazed I "tied for a distant second on the Best List Poll" as I put very little effort into it. Even less so with this one than the 2 or 3 previous challenges. I keep saying I'm going to do something along the lines of what Ash does but it seems like I already spend too much time on the simple ones I currently put forward. I'd rather be watching something than working on code as I do enough of that type stuff at work (Network Admin/Lead Tech for a large school district).

As far as having a lot in common... I'm not so sure I don't feel *more* sorry for you! I know my wife would!

I need to start putting more time into my results lists. Even Trevor makes them look nicer. I don't have that graphic eye, as my watched movie lists all show.

"Clone" is giving me too much credit. It's almost all Chad's work, I just cut and pasted and tweaked a minor thing or two. Gave Chad a few days notice before I posted, hope he isn't mad.

I think the 8 or so people who voted all had Ash first except maybe one person, with the 2nd and 3rd place votes being spread out evenly. I think the finally tally was: 8, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1.

What do you mean even Trevor? I don't deserve any credit really. I just stole Chad's work and made it simpler.

I spent hours fixing my own cut & paste errors as Chad's tables inside of tables confused me. I probably would have spent less time if I just did it from scratch, but then it would not have looked as good.

Best List? Wow, I'm honored. Thanks, all. And thanks to Trevor for hosting this challenge. It was one of the best yet. I completed more entries for this one than any of the others I've participated in and I still have a huge pile from this challenge I've yet to get to. Fortunately, the leftover war, western, samurai and kung fu ones are eligible for the current Historical Challenge.

Thanks for an awesome results thread and challenge Trevor! I obviously wholeheartedly recommend Veronica Mars, its one of my all time favorite shows, I always end up doing a marathon of it yearly... also I see that I didn't say what the *'s meant after each title but those were first time watching so of the 102 titles 37 were first time watches (the other 65 were 64 episodes of VM and 1 movie though).

Ash, prize going out today. Would have gone out yesterday but I was at BEA at the Javits. If I had checked your addy before I left, I would have hand delivered it on the way! LOL.

And boy did I fall off a cliff on this challenge...I was cruising at one a day which is great for me and then stopped? WTH happened to me? I don't even know. EDIT: looking at my list I realized why...I enjoyed finally discovering the Potters so much I stopped on the last one as I didn't own part two of the finale. So I couldn't watch the first part (no closure if I did). I kind of lost direction right there.

Worse, then part 2 was on HBO recently, and I DVRed it...but now I am so attached to the series I am honestly kind of melancholy to see it end and still haven't watched them.

I should have noticed those and known that, will adjust the stats.

This makes more than half of us recording first time views. Maybe next year I'll push for everyone to include that and make the stats more accurate.

Glad we helped pop your checklist cherry!

Thanks GW!

Now that several days have passed and I imagine my checklist results are correct, I'll run the randomizer and post the winners of the two random prizes from GoldenWheels and Hamilton Books!

And I hope you and Ash run into each other if you're that close. I've only really met one DVDTalker in person, and they became one of my best friends and an usher at my wedding.

So I couldn't watch the first part (no closure if I did). I kind of lost direction right there.

Worse, then part 2 was on HBO recently, and I DVRed it...but now I am so attached to the series I am honestly kind of melancholy to see it end and still haven't watched them.
I know the feeling. I can easily get off track and lose focus on something, even if I had been on an incredible roll before my ADHD kicks in.

I had those three BDs I'd picked up relatively cheap at Blockbuster, and I had the three Stieg Larsson books I'd picked up cheap at a thrift shop, so I thought that was a good opportunity to read the books and watch the movies.

I actually hadn't even heard of Prometheus until last week. I'm sure I'll see it when NetFlix gets it.

Please do that. I only count FTVs for the Horror Challenge because I know Chad likes to keep score.

And if you want to make an adjustment (and it's entirely up to you), I just checked and 84/100 of my total were first time viewings.
