Unopened 1995 Star Wars VHS.. VALUE???

I have a unopened box set of the stars wars trilogy that i just found. Has a proof of purchase number on the bottom and all the original stickers still attached.. Is this worth anything??? I can't seem to find any information on it..

Thanks

it's worth whatever someone will pay you. i'll pay you $1, so it's probably worth about that much.

VHS is not really worth anything unless the title is not on DVD and even then not more than what the movie on DVD would cost. (from my experience)

Actually a lot of horror and exploitation titles go for hundreds on ebay, I sold a Biker Double Feature for $180 and Savage Seven for $230.

And that's usually because they aren't out on DVD, like Savage Seven. It was nice when local video stores used to go out of business and you could find stuff like that for a buck or two.

The 1995 release is listed at about $20 or higher for new sets.

Mayhem, why throw it out? Looks like you should be able to sell it for $15 to $20 on Amazon.

12 new from $19.87

If he listed it for $15, it would almost certainly sell in less than 24 hours.

I'd wager not. Amazon is full of movies that are OOP where the prices are so high they don't get sold. Just because they're priced at a certain point, doesn't mean they're actually selling.

The best place to see what things are actually selling for is a little place I like to call ebay, with a search for completed auctions
http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?rt=nc...=p3286.c0.m283

He'd be lucky if he sold it for more than a couple bucks, assuming it sold at all. That's also before ebay and paypal take their cut, which would bring any profit at around a buck.

You don't want people to be jerks and then you say things like this. You probably shouldn't be on the internet.

I agree. All those new copies could have been sitting there for sale for years. The scant few people actually in the market for a VHS Star Wars set will likely be happy with a used set for a couple bucks.

I'd be very surprised if it sold for $15. And after Amazon fees, shipping costs and hassle, and the time it takes to do it all; why bother? For maybe $10 profit the time it takes to sell it isn't worth it.

Just give it away for free. Plenty of people would take it off your hands. Good Will, freecycle, etc.

Donate it to your local library. You can take a tax deduction. They will probably put it in a used book sale for $1 but you will be able to write off $20 using Amazon as a price verifyer.

My guess is the OP was hoping for some anti-Lucas backlash with the unaltered trilogies (I think--I have them all but am a little fuzzy on keeping them straight) but the non-anamorphic DVDs killed off that market.
