Just a note to say that I added two checklists to my post in the Lists Thread: the one that was provided and one made up of my own goals.

Re: Second Annual Drive-In/Exploitation/B-Movie Challenge March 31-April 30 2011

I enjoyed this challenge, and watched more movies than my goal of 30. The best movies that I watched were Gojira, God Told Me To, Black Caesar, Lips of Blood and Not of This Earth. The Sadist, Black Caesar, Flower and Snake, Art of the Devil 2 and Shaft In Africa all turned out to be a lot better than I expected.

I was surprised that Jean Rollin's lesbian vampire movies weren't really exploitation movies, although I'm pretty sure they were all B-movies. Lips of Blood seemed the most polished, and appeared to have the biggest budget, but it was shot in 3 weeks (rather than the planned 4 weeks) because one of the backers pulled out at the last moment. But in the vampire movies, Rollin seems more interested in playing out his obsessions, rather than producing a low budget movie that will turn a good profit through sensationalism.

My award for the funniest exchange of this thread:

With no coherent plot/story, the films really just become an exercise in endurance (and bad taste). How long can you go without puking?

I love seeing how far Exploitation Films can push the limit, but I almost became sick in the last 15 minutes of the final film. Not because anything was particularly unsettling (though watching non-stop Vomit was rough), but because with no real plot/story, you are getting bombarded by craziness until the end of the film...

Were this year's winners ever announced? I didn't see the results posted.

Yeah, I'm running behind. My son graduated, I got sick again, work got busy, I was having trouble making tables and stepped away before I tore my hair out. I'll probably just post the results without it being fancy.
