*Blitz Wolf (1942) - a good short, but we got it already from the "Academy Awards" set
*Red Hot Riding Hood (1943)

*Swing Shift Cinderella (1945)
*King-Size Canary (1947)

And if the titles don't ring a bell for you, maybe some images will help! The following are some images of the 11 shorts:

"Marsupial Mayhem"

Sylvester and that kangaroo (Hippety Hopper)

18 shorts, 17 are new to DVD. That's an easy buy for me.

^That's not exactly right. There are only 15 that are "new" to DVD. 2 have made prior appearances but they were not restored so maybe that's how they come up with "17".

Mouse-Taken Identity is on Chuck Jones Mouse Chronicles - not restored

Hippety Hopper is a bonus cartoon on Golden Collection 6 disc 1 - not restored

Goldimouse and the Three Cats is on Golden Collection 5 disc 2 - restored

Folks, Bob is right in what he says as that information TVshowsondvd.com posted as of this writing is incorrect as there are just 15 of the 18 that are new to this set. The toons he listed above can be found on other sets.

Already let Gord and David at the site know about this and they promised to get in touch with WB to get this straightened out as soon as possible and I suggested they ask WB to sub these three with some newer Sylvester cartoons, if they do exist. It's worth a try, right?

Re: Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies on DVD: The Official Thread

I hope they don't change the contents. The list contains every Hippety Hopper cartoon, and every Sylvester Jr. cartoon. It's good to have them all in one place. I'm not bothered by this double dipping.

What's the repeat ratio on that Mouse Chronicles set? All I have are the six Golden Collection DVD sets.

In case it hasn't been mentioned, most of the cartoons on disc 3 (included only in the Blu-Ray set) are unrestored and in standard definition, which might be a make-or-break for some. More info at Amazon from a posting by Paul J Mular (hope this link hits the right review).

Even some would realize that something from Tex Avery at MGM is better than nothing! I should say that even the most radical out there would like to see the shorts than to be without them any longer than necessary. Of course, this is just my opinion, but I would hate to think that people who have been begging and begging for Mgm Tex Avery shorts would pass this up...ONLY because they're not restored. HAHA, it is to laff.

Re: Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies on DVD: The Official Thread

Ha all. I collected the Golden Collections and was turned off by the cropped and double dips of the new releases so I haven't really checked on new Loony Tunes goodness in awhile. Correct me if I am wrong, but I want to avoid a slew of double dips on a disc and no choice in cropped version vs Fullframe:

1) The Foghorn Set
2) The Pepe Lebew Set
3) Porky Pig Set
4) Sylvester and Hippity Hopper Set

are the only ones I need to snag?

Re: Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies on DVD: The Official Thread

I have Pepe, Porky and now Sylvester/Hopper in my wishlist as "acceptable" buys (no more than a few double dips), can't remember on Foghorn.

Edit: I found this

http://www.dvdizzy.com/foghornleghorn.html

and this

http://www.toonzone.net/2010/12/loon.../#.UQAFVR01nkY

Seems there's only one repeat, and they are presented in both open matte and cropped versions. Guess I'll put this in my wishlist.

"Best of WB: Looney Tunes Collection" - 50 cartoons on 2 DVDs - June 25

Lots of triple dips on this one, but I'm going to get it, as it's got such a great group of cartoons, and I love being able to see them in different groupings and orderings anyway:

Marvin the Martian and Taz only appear in 5 cartoons each, all of which are on the first blu-ray set.

Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island DVD is already at Wal-Mart. It had a "Only at Wal-Mart" sticker.

They also had Tom and Jerry: The Lost Dragon with the same sticker.

If you don't have a Blu-ray player, then the Golden Collections. Then work your way through the individual releases.

I've seen these at a few Wal-mart stores within my area with the sticker making it an exclusive availability at that franchise. So check your local WM to see if it's still there in the TV and New Releases sections.
