Need some help with "Friends" boxset
Hi guys. well I don't have any problem with the region codes. so I can buy from Amazon.Com and UK and have no problem with it. the regular Friends collection is this :
amazon.com/Friends-Complete-Collection-Jennifer-Aniston/dp/B000H6SXMY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1276170824&sr=8-1
which costs 180$. it has 40 discs and some other stuffs. now I found this one :
amazon.co.uk/Friends-Season-Complete-Collection-Anniversary/dp/B002CYIR0M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1276170805&sr=8-1
which costs about only 80$. so I really want to know the differences between these two boxes. both got the 40 discs, same extras and booklet, right?
btw, Amazon.UK is wrong about the subtitles, right?
Subtitles: Dutch
cause it can't have just Dutch subs. I think I've seen the mistakes from Amazon before. cause I really need English subtitles.
Thanks

Strange. At the same time, two different people posting about R1 and R2 releases of TV shows on Amazon US and Amazon UK.
Anyway, you can check what I wrote in the Black Adder Allo Allo thread, but I would find the UK release of Friends unacceptable, personally. The DVDs run at a 4% higher speed, and in addition to things sometimes looking like they go too fast, the sound has a slightly higher pitch--essentially modifying everything by a half-tone. C sounds like C-sharp, B-flat sounds like C, etc. Some people say they don't notice it, or it doesn't bother them, but (1) Friends has pretty memorable music, and I would notice every time, and (2) I can also hear it in the characters' voices and even with the occasional common sound effect, like a police siren.
I tried to watch the 3rd Rock from the Sun Season 1 R2 PAL release (the R1s are syndicated and edited in Season 1 and Season 2), and the sound was so irritating, I gave up.
