Count me in the group of people with this at the top of their absolute must-have list. Now I'm torn. I know I'm gonna get screwed by ordering it, only to see a complete series get released later with more extras. But honestly, I don't know if I can stop myself. I may have to get this ASAP. But thank God this is even a decision I am faced with! I thought it might never get released. *knock on wood* that nothing goes wrong at the last minute.

Re: Six Million Dollar Man/The Bionic Woman Finally Coming to DVD

I don't think you have anything to worry about regarding a complete series. I bought every single Incredible Hulk release, which also had involvement from Kenny Johnson in the extras, and noticed the complete series was just the individual releases in a bigger box. There was no additional bonus material.

I am looking forward to this and the 6 Million Dollar Man releases. I was way too young when they originally came out to remember them, but watched them periodically in re-runs during the 80's and enjoyed them from what I recall. I'm glad that Universal didn't take the cheap approach to releasing this series and actually brought back Kenny Johnson to participate in the extras. I met Kenny once at a Comic convention and he's probably one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

Updated story with artwork for season 1 of Bionic Woman

This story has a list of all the extras and it's soooo loaded!!

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Bio...1-Extras/14118

The Six Million Dollar Man 40 DVD Complete Series was also announced. It's coming in November and will be initially Online only sales from Time Life:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Six...e-Series/14119

Here's the official website where you can eventually order it. There is nothing yet other than a picture of Steve Austin running:

The Six Million Dollar Man set sounds awesome, but it's going to be so expensive, especially since it's a Time Life release. Looking forward to Bionic Woman as well.

Re: Six Million Dollar Man/The Bionic Woman Finally Coming to DVD

Judging by the description in the Press release, does anyone want to take a wild guess what the price will be for the Six Million Dollar Man set?

I'm going to guess $249.99 minimum since it's 40 DVD's and since it's being distributed by Time Life and not a major studio.

But isn't SMDM almost twice the content of Get Smart? 100 episodes of an hour long show and 6 movies versus 138 episodes of a half/hour show.

$399.99. And because of the ownership rights mess I wouldn't expect a regular retail release further down the road. Universal hasn't reacquired total control have they? Even then, Universal putting out regular retail season sets is a very big IF at this stage of the game.

You can get this series for LESS THAN $200 (Before Tax) if you use the code "save20now" when you pre-order T6MDM from them!

Re: Six Million Dollar Man/The Bionic Woman Finally Coming to DVD

Thanks Regulus. I just preordered for a total of $191.96. Probably won't get any cheaper any time soon. I remember when I ordered The Real Ghostbusters from them and it was expensive, but well worth it.

Re: Six Million Dollar Man/The Bionic Woman Finally Coming to DVD

I'd better check it out on Netflix first. I can't tell you how many "beloved" shows of my childhood just don't do it for me anymore. Still, very good news. I remember liking the Bionic Woman a lot better.

Re: Six Million Dollar Man/The Bionic Woman Finally Coming to DVD

I know what you mean.

SMDM was the thing in the '70s prior to Star Wars. I even still have my toys from back then. But I remember absolute nothing about the show. I suspect I would find it mediocre now.

Anyone care to convince me otherwise?

Since this is a Time Life exclusive, I doubt Netflix will carry this.

But, I get what you mean. $240 for a 70's TV show that may feel extremely dated is a tough price to swallow.

Re: Six Million Dollar Man/The Bionic Woman Finally Coming to DVD

I've seen several of them recently. While some episodes (especially the earlier ones) seem pretty dated today, others are still quite fun. Like all shows, the episodes are hit and miss. Overall this series does seem to have aged less well than many that are a decade older, but there is still a lot of fun to be had by revisting some of the better ones.

I worry about ordering a big box set like that through the mail. Dents, dings, loose discs, etc. Has anyone ordered big sets from Time Life before? Care to share your experience?

Yeah a little too pricey at the moment. Will wait for the inevitable price drop!

I ordered the nine disc Rock and Roll Hall of Fame DVD set last year and it had no issues with how it was packed (no loose discs or anything like that).

As much as I want this set, there is so much more that I can buy and really want for $240.

That price is just WAY too high, even with a 15% off coupon code to boot, once it can be found. The price needs to come down a bit.
